Have read it ,would love to sign it,but as an exile cannot.Pity the Scottish Tories weren't thoughtfull enough to include the whole of the country ,as those of us living in exile would still have to pay it on visits and should have the right to object, more so as my VED and licence are valid for all the country.

I agree with what you are saying but I think that they are trying to show that people in Scotland don't want it rather than providing a reason for the nats and other tts to ignore it because lots of English based people signed it.

Take your point - could just be that , or is it the Tories trying to get a foot in the door again, trying to up their numbers at the next election on a hot issue. (or is road tolls a likeliehood?)Would think it would be a large nail in the tourist industry coffin.

I am sure they are trying to up their numbers at the forthcoming elections, and so they should be but road tolls are being considered by the scottish executive.
Some Scottish papers reported a few days ago that the Scottish Exacutive reacted to the road pricing petition by saying that they would press ahead with road tolls regardless.
I think there is no need for road tolls in Scotland and it would do a lot of harm.
