Newcomers Track Day @ KH April 18th
Discussion
Not sure, but I think he lives north of Knockhill - passed him on the M9 afterwords!
Nice car! The Box felt very heavy on braking, but saying that I've been using my bike a lot recently which obviously brakes dramatically more quickly.
The red elise was vvvvvv fast!

Brian, my Exige is bog standard with Sport Pack and A/C. Have fitted a drivers 4-pt harness, otherwise no extras yet. Intention is to try and do trackdays a bit more regularly now - I previously went on about 1 per year with my Ultima, that's why I thought the newcomers track day was worth doing as refresher and chance to think about something other than slowing down at end of straights.
Steve, I don't insure for track - I bin it at KH, I pay, perhaps this slows me down a bit but I try not to think about it!

Hi folks
Glad you all had a good time. Would have liked to have chatted to more of you but I guess there were more important issues like to be done!
Have to say I was very impressed with both the standard of driving and the ability of some of you lot - especially as this was a Newcomers event
Not sure what happened to the silver S2000 but he managed to give my mate in the black Civic a big scare and at the apex of the hairpin the chap in the blue S2000 seemed more intent on demonstrating his drift skills than making a clean exit....
Anyway, a top evening all round I think. Was really pleased with the performance of my car on its first ever track outing - harrassing some of you Lotus boys and the fact that it made it home in one piece.
There should have been four Foci RS' but two had to pull out at the last minute. Still it was good to have two out on the track. Anyway, a big thanks to Brian Stuart for giving me the heads up (prompting me to post it here) and the subsequent discount
Incidently, that Cobra was mightliy impressive. Poor chap must have been freezing though!
Cheers all
Simon

Thanks for replies - will look out for Exiges at future days. I too have no track insurance.
Was the Cobra the one that the Classsic Car Club rent out?

No it was a privatly owned car that the owner built himself. As I recall he was an englishman who had recently relocated up north. Think he said the car was running a 4.6 Rover V8.
I was behind him for the Instructor runs and when breaking for the first turn, the exhuasts were popping alternate flames from each side of the car as he came down the gears
Also liked the Saab 9000 that was there. Did anyone notice that it was rather quick on the straights?
Think the Maptun(sp?)tuned motor and the small matter of 340bhp with 450f/lb had something to do with it....
