meeting in inverness at 10am would mean leaving aberdeen 7.30ish to make sure we have plenty of time, anyone else agree/like to suggest a meeting place and make a list of names?

i'd suggest B&Q bridge of dee car park - out north deeside, aboyne and over the lecht being the quietest route with best scenery. i dont like the huntly road tbh.

Excuse the fact that I don't have the road names handy right now but my favourite route is out to Alford, cross River Don at Bridge of Alford, about a mile past Lumsden there's a turn off on the left (just after a bridge over a burn) signposted to the Cabrach, at the end of that road turn left through the Cabrach, at the end of that road turn left and left again into Dufftown, through Dufftown to Craigelachie, left at the A97 towards Granton, through Carrbridge and onto A9 to Inverness. The perfect blend of nice roads and minimla traffic!

Ye I'd be up for that.

Are we not best to meet at Tesco Westhill if thats the case (i.e if we are to take the scenic route through alford)?

Sorry, it's obviously the A95 that you join at Craigelachie on the route I described above.

theres the ballater route, alford or hunty roads, id prefer alford or ballater as huntly road is boring, tesco westhill sounds good to me

im on the claymore just now, bored out my skull, home at the end of the week, then i'll fit the de-cats and poly bushes to my car, its gonna be loud (maybe not as loud as that viper though)

Just to let you know though that I'll be travelling to Inverness on the Friday night in my 'normal' car. The Viper lives in Inverness in my folk's garage.

So where will you be on Saturday then?

Are you tagging along still?

Weather permitting, I'll definitely be going on the run on Saturday. I'll probably stay in Inverness (well, the Black Isle) on Saturday night too. Although I won't be drinking as much as I did this Saturday past!

Love the Cabrach.
North side of the Spey is nicer though, B9102 instead of A95 but maybe a bit tight for the 'wide boys'.

Personally I prefer:
Alford - Bridge of Alford
A97 Glenkindie
A944 Strathdon
A939 over the Lecht
A95 Grantown-on-Spey
A938 Carrbridge
then onto A9 for the last bit

Overall slightly better roads, and will be quieter.
Not that I can make it...

Nice quandry to have!

Ye that would be my choice too.

The lecht road is quite simply awesome.

Are we in agreement then?

I will be up at Donniemacs on Friday evening so I guess we will be heading up with ya all.
Only change in plan will be if it is forecast to be a mega sunny day, in which case I am taking the Elise 111R.

I'm heading to Inverness on the Fri. evening, probably around 4 or 5 pm. Ballater, Lecht, Grantown, Forres.
Providing I get my car back in time. 2 Ba....ds broke my rear Pass. window and nicked the sat nav. Worst is that they crowbarred the glass and fu...d the rubbers and scratched the paintwork. This happened this morning in Maida Vale. Only good thing, BIB phoned at 5pm to say they have 2 in custody with a sat nav and can I come and ID it? Went to Paddington nick, and yes that's mine. 2 very happy BIBs. So, now down to Insurance and Hexagon BMW. mad

Nothing to serious I hope Richard. At the lights the other day at the end of Union Terrace, as it crosses Union St, I was on the inside lane intending to go straight across, I was alongside a high sided vehicle.

As I was blind to my right, I slowly moved forward as the lights went green, some pratt coming up Bridge St floored it and turned right, causing me to brake sharply............. some young tt in a little pocket rocket, barsteward, luckly I was taking it slowly, or I might have the same problem you have, ie a slight prang to say the least.

Anyway hope your not off the road for too long.
