Hi all. Fintray Hillclimb this Sat & Sun is open to spectators and with the sunshine booked for both days and 70 odd nutters in their flying machines it is worth a look. If you want to get close to action why not marshal, free lunch, £5 a day as well and the closet advantage point of all trackside. No previous experience is nessasary as you will always be with an expericenced marshal so come along and join in the fun. Call me on 01674 643084 if you are keen.

I'm keen to come along to watch but haven't a clue where in Fintray to go.

Will it be signposted or can someone give me an address/directions?

Cheers!

First practice runs will start about 10:00.

Lunch will be about 13:00.

Competition runs will start about 14:00.

Last run will be about 17:00.

Prize-giving will be about 18:00.

My advice? ... turn up at 08:30 and volunteer as a marshal - most rewarding.

Cheers,

Eric

Unfortunately i don't have any results from the day but can say that i thoroughly enjoyed the action on track!

The weather was a bit of a let down for the competitors but it certainly made for very interesting viewing! Lots of tail-out action from a number of the drivers!

The event also seemed very well managed and things ran very smoothly from what i saw.

However, i felt very sorry for the chap in the very nice Evo who came a cropper by the finish line. I hope the car can be repaired and lives to 'climb another day!

I shall definately make the Alford, Boyndie and next Fintray events!

Well done to all who took part...i think i'm catching the bug as i've done little else than look for radicals and westfields since arriving home!

Hi folks, hope you all enjoyed Fintray even with the sh!ty weather. Now i am looking for some feedback wether it be good or bad to see if we can improve even more the spectacle for spectators and the event for drivers.

For spectators, see if we can get permission to clear the undergrowth from the hairpin to just past finish line.

Would also help to dry and de moss the track and maybe make it a bit less dodgy when wet. The new house owners may like a bit more light!

Thanks for great w/end.

Apart from Sundays weather I really enjoyed the action. Put a litter bin up by the commentary box! Seriously, take care of the competitors needs first. Spectators at Fintray generally understand the limitations imposed by safety and economics.

Thanks for the fun.

Congrats on what sounds like another well run event Trev! Sorry I couldn't be there on the day and for the all important track preparation. Well done to everyone who helped get the course in shape - looked good from the pictures I've seen so far.

How about a webcam for us far-flung supporters.
Live online timing like the F1 site?

When are the results up?

Hear hear on the organisation. Another splendidly run event by GAC. A couple of people wondered about the possibility of erecting a small marquee. I'm sure no-one would mind an extra couple of quid on the entry fee (drivers and spectators) for somewhere to keep dry on weekends like this. (Video links there would be marvellous, but maybe cost-prohibitive).
Thanks to the marshals who extricated me from the hairpin. Fuel pump problems on the new car meant I'd no times posted, but on the one occasion the power came on properly I was heading straight for it - sod's law! Looking forward to Boyndie now.

yes, I noticed. And jumped rather quickly! At least it was fine and light to pull out of the bale...

The R1T clearly has a LOT of potential. Fintray's maybe not the place to test it out but by August, I look forward to seeing it again

My first time at Fintray and apart from nearly getting stuck in the carpark with the trailer it was just fine, the track is interesting and great fun to drive in the wet, car was going well and felt very confidence inspiring, and another class win always helps make you forget standing around in the damp ;-)

I'll be back when the dates and other commitments come into alignment.

Trevor,

On behalf of myself and HSC a big thanks to George yourself and the other GAC folk for preparing and running a great event. Also to the marshals (whose services I didn't require to the same extent as last time!)

I thought it went v. smoothly considering the weather and the number of entrants

Speaking as a competitor I though that the second return road was a good idea - I suppose a larger tarred paddock would be great if funds/landlords permit. Perhaps 30/45mins for lunch (if that's enough for the marshals to get fed and have a comfort break) would allow a 3rd practice even with more than 100 entrants

Well done thumbup

JP
