Jamie Gibbon, now there is a name from the past. I think the last time I saw Jamie he was competing in a red Mk7 Jaguar at Doune, he always competed in Jaguars and they were always imaculately turned out.Jamie @ Gibbon & Wilson

Not heard anything good, I have a mate who has used Lakefield Classics and his comments can't be repeated here. I hear that Classic Restorations in Alyth, Perthshire are consummate professionals tho.
Sal.
I started this thread as a sort of database for places where people have had good experience/service etc. Sal.
Can we keep the questions and comments to another thread please?
Just had corner weights, camber, toe-in setup on my Tuscan by Mark at MH Engineering. Superb, complete transformation in car handling, changed all four corners with Gaz Gold's myself but N/S/F badly scrubbed. Beats the trip to Dreadnought!!
Also recommend Alastair at Laws Tyres Bridge of Don - 5% discount for TVR Club membership. Far more competitive than the best nternet price I could find....

Excellent guy for suspension setups and engineering work, plus you always get a cuppa when you drop by.
It is worth noting that Mark now has full-time help, and is able to take on more conventional automotive work as well as the specialist things. I can also vouch for his tea-making skills!Dubstone Farm

In fact I am putting my Triumph in to them next month
Don't mean to put a damper on everyone's enthusiasm but there won't be a single establishment anywhere in the country that somebody doesn't recommend otherwise they wouldn't have any customers.
I can understand the reason for not wanting negative comments on forum but unless you hear from a cross section of customers it isn't really worth much IMHO.

partially agree...
The demographic on this forum leans towards people with at least some car knowledge, therefore capable of deciding what is and is not good per say.
Some of the same names keep reappearing which would err me towards them. based on the above.
the title is for specialists ie certain garages will have a reputation or tendency for a certain manufacturer/type.
Business doesn't all go on word of mouth, reputation can be good AND bad.
However good to hear if others experiences are the same good or bad.

I started the thread based on Pistonheads' terms that there is no 'naming and shaming' of places with poor service. I can understand the reason for not wanting negative comments on forum but unless you hear from a cross section of customers it isn't really worth much IMHO.
Therefore, to establish a thread where reports of poor service are circulated would violate the terms and conditions.
As Istoo has mentioned above, most people on here have a higher-than-average knowledge about cars and therefore, this makes this thread more worthwhile than it might otherwise be.
