BMW 5 series estate
Dark Blue
LE19RZR
Very non descript bar smallish alloys and sitting rather squat... which was pretty much how their previous (current?) white unmarked 3 series sits too. The estate appeared to have darkened glass.
Does look more police-esque on the road

Forgot to post this a week or two back, I spotted a silver Volvo XC70 with blues in the grill heading from Perth to Dundee. No doubt on the way to assist the 2 marked up BMWs that had gone hooting that way a minute or so earlier.
Didn't get the reg unfortunately as I was heading in the opposite direction...

Wednesday Eastbound M74 between jct.1A and jct.2 Rutherglenish, a mid-grey unmarked Hyundai had de-cloaked with blue led's in the rear light clusters and rear screen, pulled a speeder (I know, heinous crime) onto the hard shoulder.
Not knowing the models, (blunt rear end) it was something Golf sized.

My dad received a pain voucher via an unmarked Sapphire Cosworth in Colston, Glasgow.
Must have been around 1990.
Back in the 1970s they used blue unmarked 3-litre Capris. The telltale was the registration - all were YUS8**S - same as the marked up ones.Must have been around 1990.

Random question, I remember a long time ago hearing that the police were using unmarked Sierra Cosworths to patrol the A77.
Was this ever true or just folklore?
They certainly had an unmarked silver J plate sapphire cosworth. Was this ever true or just folklore?
I was travelling the A78 daily in 1994 and would see it regularly. The Warrix interchange and the New House interchange were the most common places for it to sit.
I assume the same patrols would have covered the A71 and A77 also.

Long ago and faraway, got pulled doing 120 on my GPz900 on the M4 by a couple of senior officers in a red capri 2.8i.....escaped as I saw the moment their lights came on and maybe they couldnt be bothered with the paperwork for a young man on a fast bike. How times change.Edited by matchmaker on Friday 10th July 11:25
I spotted a black Renault Clio HF69 or HG69 plate (can’t recall exactly) a couple of times in East Kilbride earlier this month.
Completely nondescript, I only spotted the two police inside it as they pulled up beside me while I was waiting to join a roundabout. I didn’t see any clearly identifiable LEDs/lights or aerials

Never heard of a Clio as an unmarked traffic car - budget cuts perhaps? Unmarked, SJ20 plate, dark metallic grey with an orange/yellow sticker on the driver’s side rear window which I’ve also seen on some other traffic cars.

Traffics.
I had a bit of a chuckle to myself last week in Musselburgh. Sat at the lights and a rather basic siren was heard. Cue myself and a few others doing the full owl impression trying to figure out where it was coming from. Round the corner came a very grubby, blue, 59 plate Hyundai i30 (maybe a Kia something or other) with two tiny blue LED's in the grill. At first glance I assumed it was some character pretending to be the police but then noted two massive, fully clad officers wedged in it looking a bit uncomfortable. Assume its so it can be parked in the badlands without fear of being set on fire or nicked... but still, odd choice and given nobody moved, not a very obvious one at that either.
