Guys - setting off to Abersoch and I’m flapping that I’ll miss the by pass!

I’m coming down the A5 from Chester - Serbs to start at the Menai bridge - how hard is it to miss ?

I know I know but a car full of family can only be tolerated for minimum time possible.

It will be too late by now, but this thread is so rarely visited very few will have seen it.

You can’t miss the by pass - it starts at roundabout over the hill

Not used it, but there was major accident on first day it opened, partly cos it’s NOT dual carriageway and apparently has some dubious road markings

Cheers

I found it easy enough, phew.
It’s a very wide single track road, the middle white line is now 1m plus hatched all the way so hard to go over.
Saved us a lot of time d so thankful it’s built.

The road markings are perfectly clear. The hatched centre zone is red. Idiotic drivers on the first day. There are camera vans occasionally, but the speedsters have mellowed down to the limit. After each of the intermediate roundabouts, there is a two lane exit, but you have to have a rapid car to use it. It does allow for overtaking trucks etc. it is working out as a success. It has also (as intended) relieved the route into Caernarfon and Bontnewydd.

Yeah, the only bits that arent really crystal clear are which lanes you should be in if you want to exit into the outside lane of the 2nd exit/straight on. This isnt helped by the roundabout at the Felinheli end being different to all the others in that its at an odd angle.
Unlike the A55, there are entrances and exits on BOTH sides, so I can see how if say you went from Bontnewydd into Caernarfon (essentially the old route) and someone was using lane 2 of the new bypass to go straight on, those paths cross, which doesnt normally happen at roundabouts.
