Brake caliper question
Discussion
I have a sticky front caliper. 85 280i US so its the solid front disc. Anybody know what the calipers cross over to? I know the brake pads are the same as the 72- tr6, just wondering if the caliper is the same as well. In pics it looks about right without removing mine. Would make it easy for me to locate a rebuild kit and piston next weekend at Carlise Import Show.
Rimmer have some good pictures of TR6 calipers and they do look similar. Their Lucas are Girlings!!

Okay, so how about the early Capris 71-76 came here, is it the same caliper? There are plenty of rebuild kits and pistons avail. for it here.
Pulled this off ebay uk

I thought the calpiers were off a Granada rather than Cortina?
Try on this website they have Tasmins, Capris, Cortinas and Granadas listed so you should be able to check the numbers. They have pictures too.

Website did the trick, for the solid rotors it seems the Granda, Cortina and our era Capri will work, easy enough, a trip to the closest auto parts store and I should have everything here to rebuild them in a day or so. Now of course I'll have to wait for Motobits to get back to me on the price to ship a pair of slotted/drilled discs across the pond.
Thanks for everyones help, my wheels will be a little less dusty and I should get into the 20mpg highway soon.

For those using the search button later. The front calipers and pads are indead the same as a US apec 71-76 Mercury Capri. Bought reman ones from www.amazon.come cheaper than the price of new pistons and now my wheels are brake dust free!
Ben, thanks for the info on the caliper. My 86 is pulling to the right under braking, so I'm doing both calipers. Unfortunately it's now become really hard to find re-man calipers for the 71-77 Mercury Capri in the States. All the normal parts stores can not get them even though they list them, even Amazon say no longer available. I had almost given up and resided to the fact that I need to ship out the UK when I came across CARiD.com. They offer A1 Cardone rebuilt units for $26 plus $20 core. Got both calipers including core and shipping for $102. Delivery is approximately 9 days as they are built to order.
In my search I discovered that the caliper is also used on the DeLorean. Lots of posts around the net from those frustrated owners trying to find rebuilt ones.
Cheers, Gavin.

Info in case it helps any .
Calipers are Girling M16. This is the metric version of the PB16.
PB16 calipers were fitted to quite a few 60's and 70's European cars, Triumphs (TR6, saloons,) some BL cars as well. Some Fords (Cortinas mainly). In about 1976 ish, the M16 appeared as the metric version.
The TR6 had both imperial and metric caliper versions according to build year.
The only difference in the calipers for fitting to vehicles is the mounting bolts being slightly different diameter.
They even have the same replacement seal kit.
The TR6 had special bolts to fit a metric caliper to an imperial mounting (effectively an imperial bolt with a metric sleeve).
M16 was fitted to later Cortinas, Granadas, Escorts and Capris, Unfortunately not many Euro Fords made it to US....
I used European model names here, For example Aus and NZ have a 'Ford Capri' which is actually a Mazda.... and we have Aus built Cortinas with entirely different braking systems...
I have heard that the 4 pot calipers from an 80's Toyota Hilux Ute (=pickup, flat bed) fit perfectly, and that some Toyota models had a Jap copy of the M16, but I can't confirm this.
