What are anti-squeel shims? Are those the brake pad shims?

Yes those are the ones. I had to replace them for some springier ones on and old Triumph I had once at it cured the squeek.
You never know, it could be something as simple as that.

I had a brake upgrade carried out on the front last year by Hi-Spec in Dartford using their own manufactured billet 4 pots & discs. V.impressed.

Now the rears are badly worn & I wondered if anyones come up with a decent upgrade in terms of venting ?

I know Hi Spec were looking at upgrading the XJS rears
but havn't checked recently.

Cheers

Very interesting reading thanks Mike (and Mike!).

I'm definitely going ahead with my upgrade, but it's a toss-up between the Bremsport kit and the Wilwood's - any advice?

Stig,
When you have done your upgrade I sure one of us with a 280/350 would be interested in your 400 calipers/vented disks. Let us know if you are selling.

Nice one Andy! I swapped the shims and pads across on the front and it has cured the problem.

That's one job off the list! On to the next.

Thanks again,
Dave
