We're in a place called Carvoeiro. Not a clue where it is as the wife organised and paid for it all. She's retrained and now is working instead of being a house-mum so first holiday she's paid for in 18 years so definitely not moaning!

We spent many happy holidays there - some lovely beaches along that bit of coast. If it gets to hot and you have a car, drive up to Sagres - the most westerly point in Europe - very wild and empty beaches. Not good for swimming but very cool and breezy!

For some reason I thought that was up north, when you're actually just 10 minutes along the coast! Drove past the turning to your resort this morning on the way up to Monchique in the mountains.

Good shout by TV8 on Sagres - I did that on my last visit to Portugal some 15/16 years ago!
