Delilah's heart transplant.

Was there a 280bhp version ?? OK, but I don't remember that one.....
And Yes, I agree you probably CAN get 300bhp, but I remain concerned about how reliable it's going to be....I guess it's not a problem for your second fun car..
After all rally cars now use a huge 1.5 bar boost, which when I was younger was simply dream territory. Technology moves on.
Anyway I think Zig's reply says it all, and that's fine. I was just presenting the other view....
I have no worries that the wedge itself can handle 300bhp (with some upgrades), It was more whether one can build a reliable Cologne engine that powerful.... Fair enough

well its very interesting to say the least to have all this input and i appreciate everyone's comments but realistically its all just hypothetical until i have discussed it with Toovey race engines..Delilah is my everyday car and it would be pointless to have something that is not practical..I dont intend to race her but i would love to have an engine that is something a bit different and can handle full boost of the supercharger if i want it to..Maybe it would be a different story if i was pushing the engine hard on a track for most of the time..There are many cars that have 250bhp and over that are on our roads and many who partake in track days..Also after my ride in a tuscan up the runway at the BNG i have the G factor in my bones and its like a drug that needs satisfying and im sure the guys that drive later TVRs use theirs daily?..
There are a big handful of other cars that i could buy with the money i intend on spending but i dont want them..The fact that even now my wedge draws a lot of attention is a good enough basis to increase the wow factor on even more..So please continue with your input as its all good!..Cheers..Ziga

glad ou rent disheartened by all the comments mr Zig
as for whats possible with the cologne, check out the 12v section on the fordpower forum. loads of knowledge over there on the colognes, even a few 2.9 turbos with over 400bhp
the other option is fit a 24v lump, but i get a feeling the heads may be a tad too wide for the wedge, especially with the exhaust manifolds hanging off them

Zig, great reply, and that's definitely the way.
Keep your eye firmly on what you want Delilah to be (fast road/track/race/etc) and what you want to spend, and then say so to the experts, and you'll get what you want, within reason.
Shame the chassis is too narrow for a lot of transplants, but at least the diff and chassis will handle a huge jump in power, so it's not all bad.
Glad to see my comments taken as intended, in a positive way !!

Thats cool mate...Its really hard to offend me anyway and once i have made me mind up(which is the hardest part)i tend to stick with me guns...I value all critisism..Good and bad as we can learn from both...Plus im not on this earth to make enemies..While i remember do you have any pics of your wedge for next years calendar..I like to get people in that havent been..That goes for anyone else as well...Cheers...ZigaGood Luck with the upgrade Zig, as we have "sibling" cars it would be nice to see what you end up with, I feel my 280i has "sufficient" power but can see that more would also be more fun.
At least you seem to be quite grounded and know there are some limits, much better than doing a "Top Gear" (ambitious but rubbish) job on it.
Do you have an idea of timescale for the upgrade? Soon? Over winter? sometime next year? longer term project?
All the best with it.

Hi Norman..I should imagine its going to happen early next year, The build time for the engine is only two weeks...Pretty quick..Bit like the end result really..Hopefully..Zigamaston said:

My Car was in some of the pics taken at the BNG, but if you want/need more pics of my car I have plenty. One of the best is from BBWF2011 with my car in the foreground and a few others in the background.
If you want I can mail you a selection and you can pick/choose.
I'll defo take 2 of the finished Calendars.
Norman
Hi Mate...The BNG calendar is separate from the yearly wedge calendar which is one you havent been in..I think i can still remember seeing you at the BNG..It wasnt that long ago and im not that old..Yet......You can email me the pics but i will need the original size for quality...Cheers...Ziga

They are not cheap but in the long run its longevity im after and dont want to be having to have head work done 5 years down the line..Or sooner...The supercharger kit is looking better, I have been cleaning the blower up today and its nearly all done...Cheers...Ziga
