Hi Adi
TVR's answer to this is a black plastic ring.
You can get a chrome one to fit if you haven't got any or as some people have done don't bother. As when you are driving the driver can't see them there, and unless your pods are raised you can't see them when you are parked up.

I'm more aware of it at the moment because I have got both pods permanently up. One motor has failed, I think, and I have MOT re-test pending so I didn't want it to look too odd!!
Generally, of course, they are up at night so also less visible.
If people generally don't bother then I will move it down the list!!
Cheers
Adi

Ah! So widely available then!! When you say classic Porsche's, do you mean the likes of the 911 with pop-up headlamps a la late 70's early 80's?
A.
911 i believe...But as said no-one will see, Especially as if you do happen to use your lights its going to be dark anyway... A.

If it's the round headlights, I'm pretty sure the chrome mini or mgb ones will fit and they are cheap and easy to find.
The chrome bits are part of the adjusters though, aren't they? But the screws still show to the outside of that.I'll have a think on that one.

There are two chrome rings. The inner one holds the headlight pod in position and has recess for screws and adjusters. The outer one is a chrome rim just for show and is the same as the early minis and mgb's. Some people don't bother fitting the outer one, though I think it makes it look neater. The outer ring normally has only one hole to fit a screw to retain the outer ring.
Thanks Tony. That all makes complete sense. I'll have a look for some. I'm guessing they should be easy to find at one of teh standard parts places.Adi
The plastic ones on mine appear to be black-pigmented fibreglass and bear the marks of a saw blade as though they've been trimmed after manufacture/ modified from another part.
I find it hard to believe that Porsche would use a labour-intensive and variable technique to make such a simple part when they could have it injection-moulded to their usual precision.
