MoT today - failed

As I said I put it in after coming back from me hols - had intended to do a pre-check but didn't have time. One sidelight is hardly going to be a safety issue especially if you bear in mind that the headlights are up on "sidelight function" too, it's a formality, really.

Yeah the Oz always look nice when refurbed..I think the bolts let them down as they seem to oxidise really quickly or go rusty...Are they available in stainless, Jimbos looked amazing with the gold bolts but not sure it would suit every colour..It definitely worked with a white Wedge...The guy that did Chris's wheel definitely knows how to sort an Oz split rim out...
The original 10-point ones are harder - 12-point is much more "standard". So it's the disassembly that is usually the pain.
Getting back the the MoT I was pleasantly surprised that the garage revved it up a bit for the HC test - so I didn't have to fix anything ;^) Apparently you are allowed to do that "for older cars"....

Agreed; it's more the concept that as 'car enthusiasts' which one might hope Wedge owners aspire to be, that people would be adopting a 'fingers crossed' attitude when submitting a purported fast car for a roadworthiness check. Surely as an 'enthusiast' you'd make damn sure that some grease monkey isn't going to be able to pick trivial - let alone major - fault with your car. Fair enough, we've all done it with some rusty old runabout when we were young and skint but it seems contradictory to all of the talk about chassis-off restorations and major engine mods. to be praying that the chassis doesn't snap or the wheels fall off... I've only had a Wedge of mine fail an MOT once and that was the Tasmin the year after I got it (the supposedly respected dealer in N. Yorks supplied it with a year's MOT, he must have had Stevie Wonder doing his tests): it failed with major corrosion to both sill rails. They'd both been bodged, one with an old box spanner and one with a length of chrome dining table leg. And plenty of underseal. FFS
Well had mine in for mot yesterday and got a phone call to say it had failed for the first time in years. Only failed on one point which was a snapped chassis tube between at the front were it meets the crossmember. Oh s***e I thought but it was welded up today for £50 so actually quite happy, no advisories either so 12 months as my daily car have not had too much of a decline in condition.
