Another day on Wendy.

Battery tray holes filled, clamp installed and battery secured.

Seats removed, clean up beneath and swapped sides. Stainless bolts used - before anyone replies, the 2mm thick GRP will break before the bolts, belts are mounted to the chassis.

So, assuming the weather stays dry tomorrow afternoon, the front lights, air dam and boot lid are on the job list.

Bonnet on. Struts adjusted.

Front bumper, side lights and indicators on.

Battery connected.

Ignition works fine.

Possibly some time on Sunday to get more done. So front air dam, driving lights, boot lid and third brake light next on the list.

4-days to MOT!

MOT now booked for Friday.

Four jobs left;

1. Connect the exhaust.
2. Swap out the coolant flush for coolant.
3. Rewire the USB and 12v outlets onto the correct circuit.
4. Check the functions on the rear lights.

She's running well though. Steady idle although a bit high at 1000 rpm - might be a small air leak. Good oil pressure.

Already got a box of things to fit once she's on the road biggrin

Wendy is tucked up at the MOT garage.

Few jobs to do. Looks like she'll be back on Tuesday.

Only three days to shake down before the Scotland tour.

MOT passed.

VED paid.

Car packed and headed off to Scotland.

Unfortunately, at Birmingham a problem occurred. Turns out 5 of the HT leads were failing and the AFM wasn't properly plugged in.

Diagnosis wasn't in time for the Scotland trip - done in the BMW instead - but now up and running again.

Door cards and pulls now off for some tlc and for me to refurb the door internals.

What a 4-weeks!

Right, so Wendy made it up to Birmingham and the FPR failed along with some HT leads. So recovered home and went to Scotland in the [hateful] BMW.

Great trip, then back to fix Wendy.

Ran through some checks and swapped the FPR.

Running fine, then not! Ran through same checks and the CTS had failed. Swapped and all was well again.

Booked a trackday at Snetterton.

Then poor running again. Back to the systematic checks. Couldn't find the problem in time so Snetterton was done in the [hateful] BMW.

Fun was had then back to checks.

The results, the ignition amp and it's wiring loom were replaced. Running good again. On with some 'reliability testing'. If nothing else arises, then an oil change and rolling road tune. Followed by a trackday at Mallory Park.

Armrests recovered and doorcards reinstalled. Looks good.

Too many laugh

So set the throttle butterfly today. Also set the TPS as this was put out by adjusting the butterfly.

Checked the EAV for operation and this is working fine.

Checked the resistance of the CTS on cold and this was fine too.

Started her up and she ran fine. On to some road tests.

If all goes well then an oil change and off for a rolling road tune at BD Engineering.

So, after a few false dawns it would appear that I have finally sorted the running issues. Can't say for sure what the fault was but all is running sweet now.

Just returned from BD Engineering (Andy) who gave her a rolling road tune. Numbers (flywheel) are 190bhp at 5450rpm and 204lb at 4000rpm.

Power curve is almost perfectly flat, no spikes just a nice 'tail off'. Torque is a almost smooth arc from 175lb at 1600rpm up to 204lb at 4000rpm back down to 185lb at 5450rpm.

Vac advance has been deleted so just running mechanical advance only but everything is working well. Nice and smooth, no smoke, plugs a nice colour (1.1mm gap), emissions legal and good mpg.

Now to enjoy her and do some of the bits I was wanting to do over the last 6-months smile

I had planned to spend the festive period taking advantage of the house being empty but instead was laid up with the lurgies hurlheadache

So very limited works were done. Swapped over the roof struts for some Chimp alloy ones. Also had the half cover repaired by Mr Zig follwing some attention from the local anus dripping.

I also taped up the broken rear lense - another gift from said anus dripping.

Off to meet up with the family at the end of the week so unlikely to get any thing more done.

Still running well, so next job is swapping out the cabin lights for some Audi items and wiring up the MGTF rearview mirror.

Oh and book a trackday for February.
