You could use my software, which should give no problems with Windows 10:

Can the software change when the cooling fans kickin?

I'd like mine to start a bit earlier than standard

Why? The cooling system is plenty powerful as it is if it's working correctly. Running it below optimum temp won't do anything other than hurt the fuel economy.

And it's worth remembering that the engine temp displayed in the instrument pod is not the temp the ECU reads. They have their own independent sensors in different locations, so that can sometimes lead you to believe the engine is running at a different temp than it actually is.

No, because it a diagnosis software. The Start-Temperature for the fans is hardcoded in the EPROM in the ECU.

My old XP laptop has died and I was looking at rolling a netbook back from W7 as I hadn't seen this before. It's meant I can use the same laptop I have for my VW/Audi software so saved me a load of messing about.

Great work, thanks!
