its had a new dissy,
Just out of interest what distributor was used ..the original 35DLM8 are not easy to find and I know a couple of people have had problems with the 35DM8 or power spark replacements...As Keith said it might not have the right curve....

Just took a photo of the dissy as I am not sure what one I have also any idea what the air gap might be for the dissy trigger wheel

Not sure what that one is...I was advised that the gap should be no more than 1-1.5mm..Looks like you have a remote amp..I can see down the fittings of the connectors...They should have heat shrink on them..Could be linked to the fault.....Maybe?

Is there no dust shield? It was the pickup that failed on my new dissy. The supplier did send me a replacement pickup so I swapped that out. It's doubtful that it's the gap. I'd still guess at HT leads, coil, ignition module, dissy cap, rotor arm. All relatively easy to check and swap out systematically if need be. I'm still suspicious of your ignition timing also. Of course I could be wrong? Cheers.

I took the dust cover off to show the inside
I will make something up so I can get a better idea of where tdc is in relation the marks on the crankshaft pully
when the cam was changed did they just line up the dots on the chain gears ?rather than check for tdc

Update took the car out same thing as normal put it in a dark garage still running no sparks any where poked around all the wires then the engine stopped a connector snapped where it goes into the dissy I hope it was this causing the problem all along or just me being ham fisted
Got the dissy out, the wire is to short to put a new connector on will try to solder a extension on if it doesn't work can you buy the trigger unit ?

Fixed at last started to change bits put on a coil
,distributer cap, rota arm no change what fixed it was a new trigger unit in the distributer revs freely now. tick over is a bit high 1200 but it's always been like that any less and when you get to a juntion it will stall any ideas

That sounds like an air leak. I had the same problem on my 400SE and it turned out to be an air leak in the large hose between plenum and AFM. Mine idles at around 1000 and since replacing the large hose, things have improved dramatically, but I still think there may be a small leak elsewhere as it's still not absolutely perfect and has a tendency to sometimes want to stall. However, my car has a very good morning start and starts first time every time, hot or cold and performs extremely well.

Checked all hoses and did the test of having it running and moving the air flow meter flap the revs do not increase so if what I have read some where means no air leak but that's just what I read on the internet but happy to of cured the reving problem
