Hi mate
As Paul say's...glass...everything else is achievable...well bearing in mind that they are 30+ years old now...
If it has sat for a long period then there could be issues with the Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI)...A complete refurb of this would cost around £1000 but thats everything...The rest is Ford Granada...Cortina mk4-5...Capri mk2..Hillman Imp..Jag XJS/6 and DeLorean...oh and MG...TR7...Austin Allegro...Transit van and classic mini....

Was thinking it would be a daily driver as i've got a summer TVR and a project.
Could do without another project unless it can be done whilst driving it. So, no V8 conversion or upgrade, have the Chim for that thrill.
No project car, have the Vixen for that.
Just a honest 2.8 reliable daily runner.
Just hope its as described as it is a real bargain.

I wasn't going to go there..... nor were Delilah's pistons!!!
No Adam the only thing wrong with that engine was the two different heads I was sold...one unleaded and the other leaded...If I had known then I would of bitten the bullet and had them converted!...The engine was rebuilt so that was a good block...Even after the stick from idiots constantly mocking what I do and have done she is now one of the most reliable TVR Tasmin 280i out there..Ask the current owner...

Well at least you had the balls to try it, and almost got it running OK. And documented what you did so the next person to try can learn from your experiences.
To be honest even the Dennis Priddle installed official SX conversion suffers from some reliability issues, and these would never have been found at the time because the cars were never used enough, nor enough of them made. I've now sorted out those niggles on mine, to the extent that the powerplant is now reasonably reliable.

Thanks Adam, truth is I would still have her if the heads were good..
Heat build up was the only real concern but I dealt with that spending £1000 on a rad tech alloy rad and a 18" turbo boost kenlowe...oh and some special bosch spark plugs at £12 each...the only real problem I had was the oil res for the blower...plant it and all the oil would end up on the underside of the bonnet....

Hi jaybe
I've just recently bought my first TVR, a 280i auto, and apart from a few niggles, it's been great - in fact I've just been out for a quick run in it, between rain showers.
It suits me as
a) I'm a bit lazy so auto and PAS in a sports car is fine by me
b) it's got the same engine, gearbox, rear axle gears and electrical entertainments as a Scimitar I had till recently (so all familiar territory bar the MFI)
c) It's in lovely cosmetic condition, seemingly well screwed together for a British low production fibreglass car and it was very good value, probably as it's an auto - not for everyone, but ideal for me.
I hope it turns out to be a good one if you go for it that is!
