Page 329/365 onwards shows various exhaust setups (except the one I put in as an image, I think).

TimLux has the system I think you need I.e. above the gearbox with log manifolds. TimLux do you have tubular log style manifolds?

The really early systems which hang below have a "box" built into the chassis to let the silencer sit higher like this picture shows.

I'm currently building an above gearbos system similar to TimLux for my mongrel 200/280 and I can tell you it's not easy, especially when the car's just on axle stands!

Here's some pictures of the above gearbox system and manifolds. Taken from this thread:

Tasmin200: mine is the same as the one on that thread - it says they think it was the 3rd of the 2+2s and mine was the 4th...

Hi,

Just a to note.

The Mk1& Mk2 are different in layout. The space for back boxes on the earlier model is very tight.
I am hoping to get mine up on a lift in the near future.
If I do I will take some photos.

You're right enough, I hadn't realised they changed the body. No room for back silencers on mine, it has a single silencer above the propshaft.

Now I'm properly confused, how has this early S1 got the Langford system on it? The body was changed at the seats to allow the pipes through but according to the Wedge Bible that didn't happen until chassis no 5276, seventy odd cars after this was built?? Who knows with TVR....
