Hi mate
This is the post fuel filter..

I cant seem to recall hearing the pump, only when the AFM flap is pushed with ignition on position 1.
Ideally you need to do a fuel pressure test...You may have a faulty regulator....Too much fuel can feel like not enough!

My pump only runs when the engine is running. But I think they should come on with 2nd notch of you key.colin
The fuel rail primes on the first crank, as the engine sucks in air from the first rotation the AFM flap opens and primes the fuel rail...the pump is operating on crank and continue on until switched off...trace A said:
Could I use a adjustable regulator
Yes...Malpassi or a Sytech...You can have a glycerin filled pressure gauge fitted all the time...they need changing after a couple of years as the glycerin dries up..They are a very good diagnostic tool...But first you should try to sort this issue out...You can do a fuel pressure test but if unsure take it to a garage to check the holding pressure in the fuel rail and the return pressure...this will tell you if the injectors are weeping or the fuel pressure reg diaphragm is failing...Did you give the distributor a clean as suggested?... think I've cured it
Had another look today and noticed main pipe from plenum to afm not to tight also cleaned out outlet to plenum from vac advance seemed a bit blocked but also put in some injector cleaner and also put back old red rotor arm in place of new black one . took it out for a long drive and no missing, don't know which one cured it but fingers crossed now sorted .
Thanks to everyone for there input and help .
Trace .
Zig did you get my info back for wedge fest ...
