God that brings back some memories, thought we was so continental, drinks would be party seven, blue nun wine
Party seven and a splash of Brute....happy days...smile

Eegor - he lives!!!

Did an ignition lead shock you back to life, Alan? ;^)

Going back to the thin discs they are too thin to be clamped by my angle grinder so I put a worn out one in there too as a washer.
Heading for 20,000 posts .. still here.

Ignition leads are 10mm .. no shocks with those monsters.

Well I dont want this forum to end.

I have read so much on here, other peoples good and bad luck, problem solving etc etc.

What to look for when buying and different models.

Finally got it back on Friday from Elmwood after a long wait but its been well worth it.

I no longer have a garage which stinks of fuel, its floor is free of oil leaks (hopefully it will stay that way).

Bad news is due to other commitments the cars never going to get a smuch use as I would like, but I knew that before I took the plunge.

I refuse to do FB so this forum is very intresting. I may never be a big poster, I dont have the time space or equipment to do many repairs etc but I am here reading. The knowledge and help here is second to none.

Indeed.

I was surmising as to the reasons it was "dying".

I use it a lot myself (as well as several other forums on this site).

Use three fb groups as well,,,,,,,,,,, cant beat getting to as wide an audience as you can.....and some of those guys don't use PH

Think it'll survive just fine.....i like the variety.

I find I don't check here as often - and I have plenty of 'needs'. I'm not on FB but might have to be.
This same thing has happened on the 1970s Dodge Pick-Up truck forum.
However, I am on a BMW E-38 that is still pretty strong.

It seems that facebook is being used more and more for help and advice. This is ok but i do like this forum and i hope enough of us use it to keep it going.

I just think Pistonheads is a bit old hat now, i used to go on it three times a week but this is my first time in over four months. Its ok for posting if you want advice etc but you can also do that on Facebook which is just so much better, it is easy to use and has lots of photo's with the wrighting. It is like getting three club mags a day or in my case with ten car forums about thirty club mags a day. I used to hate Facebook i thought it was just for social stuff and looking at every one's buisness but you dont even need to do that you can just join the car forums and get loads of photo's, story's and advice on problems on cars you love or are just interested in every day its just brill. Like technology things move on .

I think that PH is still far better for technical and problem solving, and it can be searched (after a fashion).
But it has slowed down so much.
The Chimaera forums used to be the busiest, but even now at peak season they seem to be really slow.
And PH classifieds are a total waste of space, selecting what you want to buy is horrendous.

I find that I browse while watching (ie listening to) TV, or, like now, when I want a 10 minute break from work.
Faceache is good for that, plenty happening and new posts all the time.
Yes, some of it is trivial, but there's generally more going on.

But I HATE the way FB moves on, and something you were looking at even a few minutes ago can disappear completely, only resurfacing if you have actually posted and somebody else adds to the thread.

How do you join the car forums?

That neaver happens to me disappear or moving on maybe because i do not have to many contacts on facebook i just use it for a few car forums thats it keeps it simple to use. To join a car forum just type in the car you want add club after it then when the club comes up to view just press the join tab there might be a simple question to answer on some forums then just wait to be accepted.

I look here regularly, but as said, FB tends to be easier to use. The 'history' on here has been very useful and thank all those who have contributed their knowledge so freely. Some great tips.

The best bit recently on this thread was 'I blame Brexit'......hahahahahaha

I've only just started using and reading this forum.
Seems the most active forum around in my mind.
