Hello all,
Car has been running pretty well for the last year or so, but recently it's had a twofold issue.
1. When starting after sitting it's taking longer to bite than normal: 2-3ish seconds so nothing terrible but still noticeably longer.
2. When starting 2-3 hours after a drive, it's 'half' catching on key turn, so it turns over but roughly for a few seconds until it settles in to normal idling. Possibly not all cylinders firing? If you give it gas it will rev, but sounds a bit weird.
When hot it starts fine, and in normal driving there have been no problems, only that it possibly sounds a bit raspier than normal (but could be my imagination).
Changed the pump, accumulator, high pressure hoses, spark plugs and coil recently.
Next step for me is to try some injector cleaner, then test the injectors to see if they are all fine if that doesn't clear it up.
Then i'll check out the air pressure plate in the metering head.
Any other thoughts?

Why I ask is that it makes a massive difference to those that are attempting to help diagnose the fault

Hi Penny,
It happens pretty reliably when warm - so in between 2-4 hours after driving.
In light of the parts you have already replaced I still suspect either injector(s) dribbling away fuel pressure at rest or the non-return valve leaking away the line pressure so that it takes a while for the pump to build up pressure againIt happens pretty reliably when warm - so in between 2-4 hours after driving.
Either way, one or more injectors might not have sufficient pressure to provide a proper spray pattern maybe combined with too much fuel dribbled into cylinder for a hot start. ( it won’t be such an issue if that happens on a cold start where you want extra fuel - hence your cold start injector )
Worth pricing a non return valve as they are usually pretty cheap?
