Hi guys, for ages now I’ve been having issues with my wife (wedge)
She starts, runs then cut out, I've replaced fuel/pump relays, the pektron relay/resistor twice just in case, changed ecu and injector unit, all sensors but the air one on manifold ( brown ) can’t find a replacement, all injectors working, new coil, battery, starter, owner shortly lol, do anyone have any fresh ideas apart from divorce 😳😳😳

Yes

First try and prove if the problem is fuel related or electrical

Changing parts before proving the fault could cause more problems

I’m sure it’s electrical as fuel reaching injectors, even put a small wedge of wood in the afm to continuously run the fuel but still won’t run frown

As already mentioned check if fuel or electrical.

When ignition turned on can you hear the fuel pump running?

Check fuel pressure in the fuel rail and action of the FPR

Check voltages on the AFM (assume it’s a Lucas Flapper?) check action of the flap?

Check / replace the ignition amplifier

Coil working as it should? Some fail after initial run up

Let us know results

C

When my wedge was overfuelling, it would run initially then die as it starts to warm up. Plugs were black. What do yours look like?

All of my Wedge running issues have been ignition. Either HT leads or coil breaking down or ignition module fails (3 in 5 years!) The best tool in my tool box is a set of accuspark detectors. Stick them on one bank of plugs and crank the engine. Big red flashes then all is good, feeble flashes then something is amiss in the ignition system. https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjii...

For the cost of those that’s a great idea.
I’ve often thought them a bit Mickey Mouse but a really good mechanic I know uses them on older race cars running dizzy so they must be fairly accurate.
Yeah a very simple way to know if everything in that line is working.
Taking plugs out is a ball ache so better to know where to direct your energy before doing so.
