Probably a good idea to leave her in the garage , sliding the '7' about enough as it is .

Well I just did the rear brake pads on the 400SX - what a pleasure to work on, virtually no dirt underneath and I almost managed to do the job by hand - no tools! Mintex 1144 on there now - and just in time, one pad was just down to the metal in one corner (this reminded me due to the occasional zinging noise!)

Only took me about half an hour so I did a bit of tarting up on the 350i too, mainly getting the wheel nuts and wheel centres looking presentable.

Also replaced a brake light on the jeep - again - why do they keep blowing?

I must be a glutton for punishment, did an extra hour or two today. Bled the clutch and then slightly spaced out the slave cylinder from the bellhousing, but alas it still slips under power (I wondered if there was some residual pressure on it....)

The strange thing is that it only slips at low revs i.e. between 1400 and 2000. Above 2500 it doesn't slip at all. But I thought max torque would be nearer 3000-3500, so this is strange.

Also I nipped up some of the sump bolts as there's a bit of oily oozing going on.

Finally I noted that the SH droplinks have lost all their shiney finish, and are brown - it doesn't bother me too much but might annoy some of the 'bling brigade' who like painting their suspension! If you want to keep them shinney, you'd better lacquer them.

Well finished the lights on the 400SE, just need to take it somwhere to get them aligned.

Also made a big start of the Race car.

Got a lot done, but found a few extra things I need to do.
Like the doors top frames are shot.

But the car is now striped, and all the bolts are other bits holding the body to the chassis are removed. so just need to lift the body.

See pics.

Spent all weekend on the Martin Lilley 280i front suspension. Found out why it was sitting up so high

Somebody had fitted a pair of cut down spring from a lorry or something very heavy so NO travel at all yikes

Fitted nice new springs, new top and bottom ball joints both sides, new drop link rubbers, new track rod ends, new brake pipes, new pads, new ARB mounts. and a pair of shocks I had taken off Rubin. sits down much nicer now biggrin and all for £87.50 hehe
Next job is rear brakes, (hand brake binds one side) fit period radio cassette, sort out a few exhaust mounts, change the brake fluid, oil and filter and its off to the MOT station. anybody wanna buy a Wedge ??
