Look after your drive shafts!

Was talking to a friend in the TVR trade on the weekend, who was showing me the difference between the small UJ's fitted to older tasmins and the much bigger ones fitted to 350,390,400,SEAC's. Apparently, These Drive shafts are like rocking horse S**t... there are only 16 left at the factory, and when they are gone, they are gone.!
Not sure of the price for one of these babies, but I think £300ish was mentioned.

Now I could be talking bollox, but thats what I was told.

Just thinking aloud here, when I had a knackered end on my Vixen drive shaft, I took it to the local prop shaft maker/balancer and the put a new end on for a few tens of quid. Could that not be done with Wedges?

I had my 350 ones uprated to suit the 460 engine by a northern Wedge specialist, a few years ago. He simply replaced the UJ's with exactly the same type then told me they were special material and charged my £300 into the bargain - . When I was at Moore Racing having the chassis done I noticed Richard and the boys fit the bigger UJ'd shafts to the Taz racers. These were mentioned as £400 per shaft from the factory. I thus had mine modified by Proptech in the Midlands who used to make them for the factory. These cost £450 the pair. The only part left of the originals is the actual splined shaft. New complete inner bearing and diff mount, new heavy duty tube, new outer UJ. So If you can get the Granada Shaft (i.e. output end) then they can make the big Wedge shafts. E mail me for more info.

There are a couple for sale in Sprint - £40. Seems like a bargain, but I am at the other end of the country
