How about a Wedge meet somewhere, sometime in 2002 ?

Duxford has been mentioned as we should be able to hear the wedges in action as well as see them (we all know wedges have the best TVR soundtrack). Need to talk to the organizers though...

Should the meet be just Big Wedges, or all Wedges ?

What do you reckon ???????

It would be nice to see what exactly I have in the loud department
No time for a dyno test after rebuild, I was moving so the car had to be on the road asap.

I don't know yet when the 520 will be free as I don't have next years sprint fixture list.

However I have a suggestion...

There is a Tower View sponsored sprint/Tasmin Challenge race at Lydden in Kent on the 6th April. Sprinting in the morning, racing in the afternoon. If you want to get a real fix, then there will be some tasty cars there. genreally a lot of TVRS in the Sprint and a couple of Tasmin races in the afternoon. You can wonder round the paddock and actually see the 520 in action. There is usually a sweepstake on how many corners before I spin!

If any of you want to sprint your cars, not a problem as all you need is a 26 pound licence, race suit and helmet. I warn you it is addictive. The Tower View trophy will be awarded on handicap BTW.

A meet up of all wedges is great, but I think an agreement on Location is important, ie not just outside the M25 for the nancy Southerners, some of us further North would like to attend, Somewhere midlandsish would seem sensible, perhaps Donnington or some other venue. Donnington is 2 and a bit hours away from my home, Duxford 3 and a bit on a good day, has anyone got any suggestions for location, where are the rest of you located ?

Regards

Broadside an' a 450SE

If Duxford is where I think it is then its 5 hrs for me. As for sprinting, love to but me wallet won't reach (yet). Be nice to see Steve's in the flesh though.
Where did JC drag them cars, was it near Leicester? But making it safe comes to mind.

Duxford, Cambrideshire...I'm fairly local to it; just north of London.

If you mean Clarkson, he has used several airfields, one of which was Kemble in Oxfordshire...nice place..apart from the planes that insisted on landing during the track day I went on last year

Lydden sounds like a great idea Steve, but what are the noise restritions like ?

Count me in!
Donnington or Duxford makes no odds to me, although Donnington is a bit more central.

Have to agree with broadside on this one. It's a great idea but to be fair it should be central. Wadda you all think ?

We should definately arrange something. I also think that it should be open to ALL wedge cars - not just you big boys.

If the 'S' cars can arrange something, then I am sure between us we can come up with something.

The venue is always going to be a problem as we are from all over the country, so it should be somewhere central, It would be unfair to keep it just in the South or North.

Perhaps we could tag it onto one of the Tasmin races next year and maybe make a weekend of it?.

It would be a fantastic opportunity for some serious tyre kicking a chat, some photos, and some beer!

Spot on Mike. I'm interested in all forms of Wedgies ( OOH ER !! ) Would it be possible for you to orchestrate the meet through your site ? This would keep all the info concentrated in one place and what with you making such a superb job of the site etc ….. ;-)

Plus have you thought anymore about a Wedge only Club ?

Cheers

Nick

Why not ? I know there is the main TVR Club ( which I'm a member of ) but I believe there is a Club for S type cars ? Could be wrong here ? !!

Hi Andy !! Hows things ? Bloody hell what a story I have to tell ! I’ve been off the road for over three months. I’m mobile again now but I’m scared to go more than about 3 miles at the moment. Gradually increasing my range as confidence increases. I’ll write the saga down and mail you when I get in tonight.

This has been muted before but in my opinion it's a bad idea. When I joined the club I owned an S, now I have a Griffith but one of the interesting things is mixing with owners of Granturas, Wedges etc. Far better to form registers within the club but not to go off on your own?

That was my point. The club provides a lot and a register I think. I have had Vixens, now wedge and when the bank has had thier pound of flesh who knows what next (although I still can't get over this one, can always keep this one to remind me what a car should sound like )
And there's Wedgepages

JM,

Not really expensive but a pain. To cut a long story etc. Car stopped dead at junction then starter froze. It turned out to be a knackered solenoid on the starter but the main cause was a busted immobilizer. I did not find this out until the bloody thing died on me a second time. Thank god for the RAC who were superb. I’m now an expert at taking off and re-fitting the starter, it must have been off and on half a dozen times.
