Hey JM thats true ! Neil would also benefit from all that extra performance ! Neil are you using any of your Chims parts to rebuild the Wedge ? I just thought that the Chim motor would make a nice starter motor for a Big Wedge !!

As long as it's nothing like that pathetic attempt at Mania 2000
(20 squids to stand in a field)
The following day at Donnington was good. Whatever is organized it should be a driving 'theme' as this is what separates the TVR's from the saddo MGB/Austin Healey etc...clubs
Static displays in fields or along seafronts are BORING.

Just a thought (now need a lie down), does anyone know of an airfield or something of that ilk in the Midlands, (something like Tiff Needell uses in his sideways videos), this might be a better venue for us, static displays and some rubber burning all depending on cost of course. Mind you once my six numbers come in and I have built my own test track you will of course all be invited!!!
PS any other wedge owners in the North East, I am in Darlington, Respondez sil vous plait. (might as well start local before going national etc)

Most testing (Top Gear and all the mags) takes place at Bruntingthorpe. No idea whether they do public/track days?

I know the pilot who regularly starts up the ex RAF Lightning at Bruntingthorpe , spent 7 years working on those things myself . Maybe we could get Tony Paxton to go for having a drag race !!
Must say though , having flown in the Lightning several times , forget it after 150 yds !!!!

Bruntingthorpe don't. You can hire it for individual testing but it is quite strict on noise and most big wedges will not pass the noise regs.
The recent S meet was a get together and kick tyres which is easy to organise. If the cars want to play then it gets complicated as you will need to book a track (several thousand pounds a day) and get liability insurance etc etc. Not impossible but hard to do as a set of individuals.
The easiest way is to piggyback on the TVRCC events. Have Duxford as a play meet and possibly a Tasmin/Tuscan race as a venue for a get together. It may not be possible to get a single gettogether so why not have a southern based and a northern based one. The Lydden suggestion is still there: This is no more than simply turn up.

I know. Tell me about it. I've had to be noise tested at Debden for 108 db and then a Jet Provost took off at 130+
I have tried hiring Bruntingthorpe for testing and basically could not meet the noise restrictions so that was that. On of the first questions was what is the car and how loud is it.
However one of the conditions for hiring Bruntingthorpe or many other airfields these days is the car will meet typically 100 to 105 db. This is very difficult for many big Wedges. AT the time I was around 117 dB.
You can moan as much as you like, but rules is rules. If you can't meet the regs, you don't play no matter how loud the aircraft are etc. Fact of life.
