At Mania a few people asked what the SEAC was. Stunned or what. I guess there is the "like the brand and the whole experience guys" like us and then there is the new breed of folks who buy them as an alternative to a Porsche/Ferrari, which is what the factory are aiming at. Not a gripe just an observation. Mind I was taken aback (especially when the second person said it - maybe it was a wind up)

On my way back from nearly Mania on the recovery truck and stuck in a bad M5 jam. All windows were open in the heat and we heard an amusing opinion from a know-it-all in the next lane...

"Look! It's a Porsche"

I saw a Porker GT3 on the back of a breakdown truck
- so it's not just TVR's...

Although I don't think it looked anything like a SEAC !

Could be worse - how many people have been asked about their TR7s?

You think that's bad; even the motoring press are at it. Check out the buyers' guide in the back of Practical Classics....

(Tasmin) 'New wedge bodyshell on the M chassis' Oh really.

(S Series) 'Revised Taimar styling on modified Tasmin chassis' off.

Now I remember why I stopped buying it.

You could forgive the general public (well maybe?), even perhaps forgive our motoring journo's (muppets) but a fellow TVR owner not knowing what a Wedge was (numpty).

You're not kidding Tasmania - it seems there are a few of the new breed who only seem to know what a TVR is from Griffith upwards.. can barely accept it from Jo Public in his MR2 saying mines a Porsche - but when it comes from within the "fold" - perhaps the club mag needs some serious wedge input to wake these people up..

I think it's the great divide of owners that spend all their cash on the expensive pose, and others, which I think most Wedge owners fall into, who like to own and maintain a rare classic. If there isn't a Wedge in the plush show room when they select their options, what chance is them to know what preceeded their baby? Perhaps all TVR dealers should be required to have pics on display of earlier models. Give out a book illustrating the full range of TVR's built and only sell a new car, if the prospective owner can successfully complete a test on the TVR Heritage?

Monte,
Good plan however I get the feeling that the factory have forgotten and are a tad embarrased by the heritage of the Wheeler era being the Wedge. (IMHO must add!)

Similar comments were heard when those new fangled Wedges startd to go to a new breed of owners who didn't realise that TVR's were meant to be all curvy and have a huge rear window.

So before casting the first stone etc etc.

Always the voice of reason Steve. Light the touchpaper and stand well back, fire extinguisher at the ready...

Surely the ultimate insult must be Beckham buying one??
He probably thinks a swirl pot is a new type of bidet..

(Sorry, couldn't resist. Any bloke who wears a hair net is fair game.)

Echo previous sentiments about getting a higher profile in the club.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Performance car (evo) decide that SEAC stood for Sauasge egg and chips.
