Currently the Westfield Sports Car Club has no regional meeting in the South of Wales. A few of the Westfield guys are trying to start up a regional meeting. There are a group of owners in the "West" Wales area and also a few in the East. Its been suggested that a quarterly meeting for both areas would be a good idea, whilst also trying to establish 2 local monthly meetings. For starters a meeting has been planned in Bridgend, on 26th January 1930/2000hrs,
The Harvester at M4 Jn 36.

Whilst this is obviously aimed at Westfield owners, or those who plan to become, I'm sure that anyone with an interest in 7-esque cars will be very welcome!

More the merrier!

Following a very successful first meet last night we thought we need to decide where we go from here. We had a total of 14 people turn up with 4 Westies, which is not bad for a very cold and dark January night!! And things look rosy for the future with discussions of a test day at Llandow, an A470 weekend run, a Top Gear Welsh Roads blat, an ice karting event, a vintage and specialist rally event etc all underway.

The biggest thing which came up last night though is how we meet. We have members ranging form Chepstow to Pembroke which means we are covering a 120 mile area. The group is split between a concentration of about 11 from the Cardiff/Newport area plus 3 from the Swansea/West Wales area plus whoever else joins from our articles in Westfield World. We don’t think it is going to be logistically possible to keep everyone happy and meet as one big groups on evening meets.

From the discussion last night we propose we meet as two groups on a monthly basis, one based in North Cardiff, and one based in Swansea / West Wales, and get together as one big group at least once a quarter for an organised event (like the ones above). In summer we would expect we would meet as a big group more often for special events to make the most of the weather and the roads in the Breacons!!

Mat Jackson has volunteered to organise the Cardiff meets, and he has proposed a pub called the Black Cock in North Cardiff. This is a cracking pub with good food, good beer, a large very safe car park which can be seen from both the bar and beer garden. It is 5 minutes from the M4 and 5 minutes from some superb blatting roads. A perfect venue really!!! He needs to chat with them before he proposes dates, but would be aiming for our next meet sometime in Feb.

Who are the meets intended for? 7's only? Or including other kitcars? Or even open to other PHers?

I sold my Westy last September, and have just ordered a Fury chassis I'm presently slumming it in one of Stuttgart's finest

Anything organised for the Wild West?

Hi Bob

Good to hear from you!

What's happened to the Ultima??

Re. the meets. We are finally getting a South Wales area of the WSCC going so it is targeted at Westfield owners/WSCC members. But then, as you know, you don't have to have a Westy to be a member of the club. I'm maintaining membership even though I've moved to the Tiv. So, basically, if you're interested then I'm sure they'd be happy to see you.

There's another chap on the WSCC board just finishing a Fury I think....

I'll pass your details to the chap who will be trying to get West Wales bit going.

Cheers
Chris

Sold it - it was initially going to a dealer in Italy, but someone local popped up at the last minute and bought it. I enjoyed building it more than I did owning it to be honest.

Chris.

Keep us posted on the runs. I organise a few for the South Wales Club Lotus boys which are usually in / around Brecon / Builth area and are fantastic.

We usually get anywhere up to 12 cars so could sort out a joint run sometime.

Following on from the last meet, the whole group will meet as two areas (one in Cardiff and one in West Wales) and then get togther fairly frequently for organised events. So for the Cardif-ish area contingent the next meeting will be as follows:

Black Cock Pub (Rhiwbina Hill, Cardiff)
Wednesday 23rd Feb
7:30 for 8.
