Hi, I have an Audi TT on a service plan and would appreciate any opinions on Newport VAG for servicing. Can’t decide between there or Cardiff Audi.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi Steve, put the kettle on and sit down for this...
Bought a three yr old Tiguan R Line from a prestige car coming any in London in February. Spotless. One owner, 14k miles, full VWSH. Really pleased with it until the DSG started making a clunking noise in the mornings. Rang the garage and they said to drop it into Sinclair VW Newport for them to look at it. They had it and said there was nothing wrong with it.
I took it home and ext dat it was the same so I gave it back to them and went out with a technician to show him what was happening.
They had it for two days then called me to say itneeded a new gearbox, clutch, transfer box and mechatronic system. £6k. And the guy actually sniggered as he deliveredthe cost to me.
He couldn’t say what the fault was but if I changed everything it “should” fix things...
I rang London up and gave them the news, they asked if they could send the car to their VW garage nearby, they had serviced it prior to my purchase. I dropped it down and had a lovely Golf for a week while they booked it in.
I had a phone call after a week to say that the car had an outstanding gearbox and ECU upgrade which has now been done and it’s working fine.
And so it has proved, the noise has gone.
So that’s my experience ofSinclair VW in Newport for you

Similar story to the above. I had a squeak in my one year old Alltrack suspension and took it in to them. To be fair, the customer service was excellent, I was provided with hire cars etc. But first it was no fault found, then I had to take them out in it, then they replaced the wrong side shock absorber from where the noise was coming from, then the problem still persisted, then they just greased all the bushes which cured it!!

As mentioned, they looked after me with loaners and hire cars but blimey it took a while getting to the problem.

N G Motors on Portmanmoor Road, about 2 minutes from Sinclair VW in Cardiff.

They have looked after my Golf R the last few years, a good family-run VAG independent specialist. smile

I've used Cardiff on Leckwith for our Citigo, bought it from them, and I'll be fair they were great to start with, then we had an issue with it steaming up constantly.
Took it back for warranty, collected it a week later, no issues found, apparently took the windscreen out and resealed it but they blatantly didn't, didn't wash it either and even managed to get a puncture in one of the tyres, blamed it on having wet feet.

Newport one, they had it for a week and still couldn't find the issue of a water leak, but they did test it, still does it now if it starts raining when you're driving it fogs everything up instantly, it needs to go in again soon as after 18k miles the clutch release bearing is noisy as fk, so will see how they get on with it this time

Hmmm... thanks for the responses, I really appreciate it.
I think I’ll look elsewhere for my servicing! I know we all have our bad days but I can do without any hassle from an incompetent garage.

Thanks for the suggestion for the independent garage, the car is only a year old so I need the main dealer stamp (for what it’s worth) plus it’s on an Audi service plan.

Cheers all, Steve.

Have the servicing done at Audi and then any work carried out at the above. Audi cardiff tried billing my brother £180 for a split pipe yet NG just found it was slipping off and refitted the pipe correctly no more leaks. Audi will replace rather than inspect and investigate.

I use R Tec in Swansea for servicing. Bit of a trek but worth it for the peace of mind.

Never had any problems with Newport for servicing. The one fault I did ask them to look at they tested and the fault didn't happen for them but it was conveniently fine afterwards.

Ive used Gwent VW on Leeway Industrial Estate for some work on my TT and can recommend them. They use genuine parts to maintain the warantee etc

Without a doubt if you need VAG service in South Wales id use Euro performance in Llantrisant. Gareth is a wealth of VAG group knowledge and the service is professional from start to finish.
