Following the success of this event last year, 'British Sportscar Day' is again being held at Old Warden Aerodrome, near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, on Sunday 4th July. This is the home of the famous Shuttleworth Collection of vintage and veteran aeroplanes dating from 1909, and the date coincides with one of their legendary Flying Days. So as well as hundreds of vehicles, you'll get to see an amazing variety of weird and wonderful planes take to the air (weather permitting). In addition to the unique selection of 40 ancient aircraft, most of which are airworthy, the Collection comprises cars, motorcycles, bicycles and carriages, together with a vast array of aviation memorabilia housed in eight hangars. There are fun flights for the strong-stomached, and for those who aren’t, there’s the Swiss Garden and Bird of Prey Centre. Foodwise, there’s a restaurant on site or you can bring a picnic if you prefer.

Despite the 'British' part of the name, any fast, exotic, interesting, unusual or expensive car is welcome to attend - just like all other Pistonheads events in fact! Porsches, Corvettes, Ferraris, Alfas, true sporting Mercs, Maseratis, Bugattis - you get the idea. If you've got friends with suitable cars who fancy an interesting day out, please pass this on and ask them to get in touch with me. Last year I had the pleasure of taking 55 sports cars to this event and a good time was had by all.

BOOKING NOW! Admission is £12 per head in advance, or £15 on the gate.

How to book:
1) Come along to this Sunday’s gathering at the ‘Flying Fortress’, eat and drink and I will happily relieve you of a cheque or cash :-)
2) If you can’t make it, you can post me a cheque (please mail for details)

Best wishes and I hope you can join us at the Pistonheads Roadshow

Here are some pix from last year:

Old Warden is just across the A1 from me, and I haven't been yet this year so I will come alone if the weather is dry. Does a Triumph Vitesse count as a sports car?

For those of you thinking 'Shall I?' it's not too late to get in - but mail me first please as the Pistonheads block booking has been sent in.

Thanks everyone and we look forward to another good day out under the 'Smiley & Pistons' (which is not a pub BTW!)

Just a short note to say we had a great day today. I was just going to come on my own, but in the end the whole family came along. Despite the brief bit of rain we all enjoyed it. Caroline, our 16 month old, had her first ride in the Vitesse and loved setting up front with the top down. I did not get to see much of the cars, as to me, even a row of TVR's takes second place to a 1942 Spitfire (the plane not the car) doing it's stuff.

Thanks for organising a great day out John, hope to make another one soon.

BB, I was hanging around for a chat but you were busy talking to some guy about your engine

I had a look at your photos and see you have my Griff looking great...especially the shot with the brolly!

Mrs Toffer and I were eating sandwiches at the restaurant when the heavens opened...luckily my mate Nosher (TR Grinall) put a cover over the driver's seat and transmission tunnel only leaving the passenger's seat getting wet...when he had the inspired idea of putting the brolly over the seat!

Anyhow, returning from lunch the inside of the car was nice and dry and I took the precaution of putting the roof on as the weather still looked dodgy...that's why you have picture with and without the roof...

Great day out and thanks to Simpo for his organisational skills and to Ian for the video!

I was at lunch when the downpour came too, I got back to the Tiger stand just before it *really* came down, hence my car had the blue tarp over it much of the afternoon!

When I did eventually take it off I had a lovely little puddle in the gearstick gaiter!
