Middle of april rob, 2 weeks before the event. No earlier definately, but it might slip till a little later, give peeps.as much time as possible. Won't be the same without you there! There are a couple of people that have expressed interest in tuition already.

Also is Steve's sunbeam back on the road yet?
Unfortunatly the sunbeam is still a bare shell at moment - in the process of being rebuilt with a completion date of late June - needs to be finished in time for Le Mans Classic! eek
Excellent news - fancy joining a few of the East Anglia lot on the convoy down cos I can't think of a better soundtrack to accompany us down than a screaming normally aspirated flat six and your sunbeam - I'll be in the middle please coolcoolcool

Guys - a little request...

Is anyone out there willing to take 2 Jerry cans to Marham for me (I'll fill them and drop them off a day or 2 before) - I can't fit them in the Ultima and have a feeling that more than the normal lunch time trip to the petrol station may be needed biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
What day are you going, and whereabouts roughly are you?

Im glad you say that! I'll not be doing anything other than giving the car a quick check over!
Don't forget in the afternoon the circuit is reversed

Morning

Heaviest braking area is up hill at the end of the main runway 140 mph in my car but it's a lift a gentle kink right folowed by braking down to a 90 deg right from maybe 90 mph with an escape road straight on if you run out of brakes

Afternoon

Down hill at the end of the main runway aproaching a 90 deg right at 140 plus I'd rather have some confidence in my brakes (I'm sure there is an escape route avaliable but it's far left from the apex)

Better to offer advice of caution I reckon and that's where I believe Stuart is coming from

lap after lap from 140 to 20 - you're not going to do that on standard pads.

if the car is light enough, you might just get away with it. My lightest car weighs 1600kg, even when I've taken out all of the trim.
My Monza is down to around 1250 kgs now - new redstuffs to be fitted ready for the event

Is there much more to lose Ian, or is a diet for the driver the next step to save a few more kgs??
Not funny - I'm not exactly powerfully built now biggrin

Not bad for a car that size. My RX7 is at about 1200kgs with the aircon, airpump and rear interior gone.
It gets harder and harder to remove weight - first 200 kgs was easy, next 150 was expensive and since then it's been down to cutting bolts down to the right length and replacing steel with alloy where I can......

Hole saw next biggrin

True. I could remove a lot more interior and go for lighter wheels etc but it is a weekend toy as well so like to have stereo etc. Anyway just booked the Sunday! smile
Ahhh keeping a level of practicality and losing weight is hard - mine isn't road legal anymore and it certainly isn't practical biggrin

I have a target of losing another 20 kgs before Marham too - but I'd better put a new roof and windscreen in it first.....

1) Is there a online list of the cars/drivers that are competing?
Yes but not public - sometimes people start a separate thread saying what they are driving and what day they are attending - helps on the day to know who is around you.

Rob Day said:
2) If I was to run down to Marham on the Saturday to race Sunday only, is there any local B&B, hotel or even camping nearby (last resort for me)?
All three

(B&B's google for them - I can't recommend any but I'm sure others can)

The George Hotel at Swafham has been a popular place to stay for some of the peeps from the ABS Club

Camping at Wittington

Rob Day said:
3) If I was to pay/register but then the "Registered Car" became unavailable for the event, can I use a different car?
Yes

However lets run with it, would be nice to see who's out to play and when wink
It'll keep the thread at the top of the section and maintain a bit of interest - If you hadn't started it I would have wink

The NATO-standard container of cloud-seeding materials arrived for Sunday afternoon ?
It's only been avaliable on one occassion and pretty much everyone packed up to go home - they really missed a trick there biggrin

Just out of interest how will much wear will my rear tyres get on just the one day.

I've got new tyres on the back and was hoping to take a spare set of tyres for the front (intending the rear's will be fine).
Unless you have lots of lift off oversteer - or constantly go into corners too hot I'd say rears wouldn't take much harm on a FWD

How come this thread is no longer in "My Stuff" ? I know this is probably the wrong place to post a technical issue, but I was woundering if its just this thread.

Rob
Weird - still in mine - some forums if the post is moved you lose the bookmarks/links but not this one

Not a time thing is it - try 14 days rather than recent - old threads drop out of my stuff if they aren't posted to regularily - I know that's not the case with this thread but you never know
