RAF Marham April 2012 trackday weekend
Discussion
Tyres.....
Marham is unusual for a trackday in that you'll be able to get just as much track-time as you want. Over the course of a weekend, I usually put in 400 to 500 miles on the track.
So, the point is that you could easily use up a set of tyres - you really should bring a spare set of wheels and tyres with you - you'd be disappointed having to go home just because you've run out of rubber.
One year I did both days on a set of new tyres, but they were down to canvas at the end.
Another year, I went through twelve tyres for both days.
Same applies for fuel.
Am available to take you round a bit at the start if you feel the need.

@alb27
The MLR event you mentioned is organised and run differently so the requirents are not the same. Please disregard anything you've read about that event. Everything you need to know about the track weekend is on the website.
Whilst we don't collect passport/driving licence numbers prior to the track weekend, you will need one or the other to gain access to the station on the day.

Middle of april rob, 2 weeks before the event. No earlier definately, but it might slip till a little later, give peeps.as much time as possible. Won't be the same without you there! There are a couple of people that have expressed interest in tuition already.
Also is Steve's sunbeam back on the road yet?

Are they any noise limits / noise testing on the day?
Marham is home to some very fast and noisy jets however the noise from them is limited to take off and landing I guess - you don't get them going round and round the taxiways and runways all daySo there is a noise limit and Marham do have testing equipment however I've yet to see it needed to be used.
Bottom line is you would have to have a really seriously noisy car to trigger a test request and without speaking for the organisers you'd probably get the opportunity to add additional silencing or possibly agree to a lower rpm limit on track.
Without dragging an old thread up to the top I seem to remember that an MX3 with a side exit exhaust and "minimal" silencing (it had a silencer box in the system I'm sure but it wasn't doing much) triggered the noise limit implementation to appease local residents. It was quite loud at the higher rpms although it actually sounded quite good.....
George/Rob please correct me if I've got this wrong
