Anyone else from Peterborough on here noticed that the A47 through Peterbrough has a half mile stretch which must have the most KSI's in the land because they're putting up 8 (yes I counted EIGHT) scameras.

I've lived here for 8 years now and never seen a single accident on that road, the most I've seen is a couple of breakdowns. Is it really that dangerous?

More importantly, will it be more dangerous now with stop/start driving on such a dual carriageway.

Maybe we should write to the council and ask what the KSI numbers are for that stretch?

Your thoughts?

Ta.

Go for it. There's supposed to be justification for cameras, and if no-one complains or asks, they'll just keep doing it. Check out www.abd.org.uk for more info.

False Alarm they're only temporary whilst roadworks:

Safety Cameras are being installed on the A47 Soke Parkway between Bretton
Way and Nene Parkway interchanges by the Highways Agency in readiness for
the forthcoming roadworks. A risk assessment has been undertaken which has
shown the need for the imposition of a 40mph restriction for the whole
duration of the works and the need for traffic to be compliant with that
restriction. This is for the safety of all road users and the workforce.
It is expected that the works will continue for 12 weeks during which time
there will be 5 camera sites on each carriageway.

Once the works have been completed the cameras will be removed.

Should anyone need further information regarding these works they should
contact the Highways Agency on 08457 50 40 30

Kind regards
