This is interesting and raises a wider question. If 3 friends came with me in my family runaround to say, the Silverstone Classic and at the end they offered me a sum of money each to offset petrol costs, would this be considered hire and reward with all the previously mentioned insurance and legal complications?

BTW, MrHowe, I would have gladly taken your son to the prom in my GTR for nothing but I will be in Spain, which is probably no consolation to you.
