I'm having a little fantasy (bear with me) What say you could get a T440 in with the under-200 rule.
It wouldn't be that much dearer than a Noble would it?

Hmmm.... no.... Although that's a very big "what say"..... as in unless they change the rules or you're prepared to do unspeakable gay sex-acts to that canadian prat of a LTSA-head then it's not likely Would imagina a T440R would be a bit dearer than a Noble, certainly a 3R and probably even dearer than an M400?

On the off-chance that you get EITHER of these cars into NZ...... can I please have a ride?

I dont think the Under-200 rule works that way atm

You could only get one in under that rule if TVR stopped making all their other models as its total production by the manufacturer rather than of that model.

At least I think thats the way it works, someone feel free to correct me if Im wrong

I assume you mean Andy Knackstedt? But the man speaks so much sense...

Seriously, it's 200 cars per manufacturer, I'm afraid.

Check out www.lvvta.org.nz for details.

Nice to dream, though.

Yep, 200 total manufacturers output at all locations - so you couldn't even get one from the Malaysian factory (even if they made anything other than Chimaeras).

Of course 200 per model was what the law was supposed to be according to guys from the LVVA - perhaps one day they'll fix that up.

I believe the list price for the T440R was around 70,000GBP so roughly 210,000NZD depending on fluctuations of exchange. If you want something around the same price there's the Noble M14 (which is nice, but surely it's not going to be as good to drive as the M400?) or perhaps something completely different like the Farboud which looks a lot like the M14 but somehow more professional!

Personally, if I was going to buy a Noble, I'd get a used one and ship it myself. You can pick up a practically new 3R for 40,000GBP and all you'll miss out on is a meagre 12months warranty and having to pay an additional 35,000NZD! I bet you could get someone to sell you a tax-less new version too.

Then of course there is the new Marcos TSO which seems good value (35,000GBP) if they can just get their act together and sort out that hideous interior! It would be the most sensible option with Chevvy power. Chassis sorted by Prodrive - say no more.

Of course my personal favourite is the Ultima GTR - drive to the circuit, win the Super GT race, drive home the long way. Nice.
