Your going to love Dunedin, it has some lovely spots and skiing is only a few hours drive since you mentioned the skis. Its pretty chilly down there at the moment with plenty of snow around. But am sure all will be great when you get there.
Keep in touch.

PS what line of work are you in, do you have anything lined up?

If you want a comparison

I left dunedin at 6.50am this morning where it was -4°. Got to Auckland several hours later and it was 17°. Apparently we had a resonable day down here but id say itd be closer to 10 based on what we've had lately

Dunedin does have alot of pluses though, Im sure youll enjoy yourself

Sorry guys I've been a bit busy in England (as some of you are no doubt aware!).

We got back today and I must say my two little girls (Charlotte 4 and Katie 2) were fantastic going there and coming back. Hell I fall apart half-way through travelling on my own!

I had a good time but as usual ran out of time. It was also a bit of a pain dragging my poor girls around and to go to some of the events we wanted to. We did get a fantastic weekend at my friends place in France (20mins away from LeMans - guess where I'll be going next June!) - thanks Dan (Goodlife).

I think the idea of a NZ Pistonheads meet is an excellent one after catching a small gathering on my last night in the UK. I heard lots of great stories of other meets and met a couple of guys who I've exchanged emails with in the past. Amongst these was Stig who owns the supercharged Ultima some of you may have heard about (or seen his excellent build site). I was lucky enough to be taken for a blast in this machine (1000kgs-ish, 600+bhp) and I can tell you I always fancied an Ultima, now I think I actually neeeed one!

I'm sure I could make an after work gathering in town (Auckland) but I'm not sure what state my TVR is in after leaving it with my mechanic for the duration of our holiday.

Wow, you went for a ride in an Ultima esp that one!! Must have been a thrill also to put names to faces finally eh. I am hoping to make the trip one day to one of the larger meets over there and visit the Lotus factory, think it needs to be done.

Regarding kids. They are amazing alright and seem more robust than us, like being able to bounce back quicker. I had to take two girls 6 and 8 a return trip to Switzerland flying cattle class about four yrs ago and had no problems with that what so ever. They enjoyed it more than I did.

Anyway bring the TVR, kids wife and all out next weekend to the track so we can meet up - ok in your case bring two cars Be nice to see
everyone.
Cheers
K

So any definite plan for a pre-meet for those not racing? I'd LOVE to get down to Puke for an event and by the sounds of things there are some awesome bits of gear going instead of the turbo brigade that I normally hear about...

Not sure about a pre-meet, I'd be keen I'll be heading down to Puke on Sunday.... if we can get more than just us two might be worth meeting up beforehand on the way down.

Went to Panavision in Freemans Bay the other day to look at their awesome camera acessories, they look after TV crews etc. An hour later and awesome customer service they set me up with a suction clamp for my handycam to mount in the car to use for sprints etc. Stoked! So if I sort it by Sat night will put it to use on the track for Sunday.

I cant really just use heaps of duck tape like others do and strap to the dash etc as its leather interior, as I will stuff it, so it only leaves the windows to attach to. Although I need to make a small bracket to get the viewing angle right, so Simon has offered to weild me up a widget thingy.

Just hope its not raining eh! The famous David Knot from Metservice Wellington bought a painting from me the other day, still got his contact so might get him to forecast us some weather eh..LOL! Prey to the weather gods someone

I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
You'd all better be real careful - I've been roped in as an instructor - it's the only way I could get some track time

And I have the Capri back - just got it back this morning

And Kylie - may those weather gods keep smiling!

Hey all, made it out to Pukekohe today and had a good yarn to a few people and saw some neat cars. Here's some pics I snapped (I'm no pro mind) if anyone is interested... they're not too big either I promise!! You can find them at http://htsd.orcon.net.nz/misc/pics/290804Pukekohe/

And you're more than welcome to download them or anything like that. I also have full-size (ie 600kB) images if anyone is interested. Cheers,

I was so buggered last night I was in bed by 8:30, just totally wiped out. I got some pics too, will post up tonight. There were so many people I needed to catch up with so I was chatting all day
Might have to get a lap timer machine thingy like you lot, be interesting to know how I am going.

About the lap timer
I talked with George about whether we should mount the beam on the start finish line - but thought that Geoff might have had a fit if we did. So we decided that discretion was the better part of valour - and will leave that until the next open day.
I got mine from a bike place in Warkworth as being the cheapest I could find over the net. George got his from some place in Wellington. Easily fitted - I have velcroed mine in with the sensor looking through the side of the front window and it works fine. George has fitted an extention lead so he can mount the sensor on the cage looking through the side window

Lol Tellmeabouddit! I need a car..... almost thinking about scrapping plans for the TR so I can just keep her as a fun thing, but that just wouldn't be cricket.... never mind..... might be able to turn up to that same driver training event next time in a 290bhp S1 3.8L E-Type Roadster...... mmmmmmmmm *drools*
Was fantastic to see you all there (although I missed you Roger, you were busy imparting your wisdom to others on the track).... at least we've broken the ice and had our first meet, now maybe it'll be easier to know who's who and organise things for the future

BTW got a nice little video clip of a certain silver Chimaera leaving the carpark sideways *not looking at anyone in particular jamie *

Yeap.... but that is EXACTLY the sort of event I can see him being REALLY keen on..... I'm busy working on the final engineering bits and pieces for it now and we're hoping that it'll be finished by mid-january at the moment...... would be a beautiful machine to see out on the track
