If I spot you I'll make myself known - what do you drive yourself (or is your username giving the game away?)?

Only if it shrunk in the wash

But very nice it is ! ! !

Hahaha so very true KiwiXTR2 (by the way, you of ALL people can't hassle me about small cars )

Nah I've got a S1 Elise... I want a late model Esprit V8 and acknowledge that this will be a few years away for me yet. I've been through the student thing and have only been out 2 years... the Elise is the perfect weekend toy for me at the moment. Click my username to see my profile... pic of my car in there. Shame you couldn't have come along yesterday, we had a total of six Pistonheaders there (Me, KiwiXTR2, Kylie, Roger A and Kiwi LE. NZ Trev made a brief appearance.... add to that that a whole lot of others turned up making the day fantastic fun.... was a spare passenger's seat or two in some rather exotic machinery.
If you come along to pukekohe on either the 6th of August (Lotus Sprints) or 14th August (driver training) there will be a few of us there. I'll be spectating on the 6th and participating on the 14th. Roger A will be participating on the 14th too in his Fraser7. Always happy to meet new people, especially those of the PistonHead variety.

I'm already busy organising another "run" sometime in early september, will be the same as last time... open invitation to all PHers, Lotus Clubbers, TVR clubbers and basically any other random people that want to come along..... even if you've only got a mundane car, just turn up and tag along... it's all about getting out there and enjoying some good roads... always plenty of fine machinery on display to look at and listen to

Ooh that reminds me KiwiXTR2.... when can I go for a blat in the passengers seat of your little weapon? Have helmit, will travel!!!!!

One of Dean's mates wants to have a look over it for a project he's working on so that might be the next chance. Will let you know when.

Otherwise I'll e-mail you if I'm going for a fine weather run.

Nice car you've got yourself there mate... fair to say I'm a good 3-4 years off owning something of that ilk (by my own VERY conservative estimates). I'll keep an eye out for you on the 14th, may even tag along on the 6th for a look.

Thanks Murdock I'll be there in some capacity on both occasions, would be only too happy to meet you... we're only a small group in here but we're ALL really friendly and just keen to meet new people with as much interest in cars as we have.... I've been to meet-ups before in my rusty, dirty old Mitsubishi Mirage.... don't need no flash equipment to be a PistonHeader... it's all about attitude and passion

still haven't received confirmation as to whether i've made it for the 14th. anyone else had word?

Roger,

I haven't either... but I got a call from the guy who's organising it at the jag club when we were at the domain last week (I'd e-mailed him asking if they had received my entry) and he said that they had received it and were just waiting to process the entries and that I was confirmed... I'd imagine you're in the same boat

Good stuff... I got mine too... weather's meant to be clearing showers on Sunday... so hopefully it's more of the "clearing" and less of the "showers"

Happy happy happy! Weatherman change mind, take away nasty cloud icon, put in sun icon, say: "mostly fine"
Looking good -even for Fraser driver! Now all we need is a convincing win (or indeed any sort of win at all) over the Wallabies and life will be perfect

Just a quick question regarding tomorrow's shenanigans... what's the story with fuel? Are there facilities for refuelling at the track or, failing that, is there a conveniently-located petrol station (preferably one with 98)? Such a noobie question, I do beg your pardon.

Don't think there's any fuel at the track.

I believe the challenge just down the road from the track has 96 and Avgas (but you don't want to bother with that)

Closest station with 98 is the BP at the roundabout just back in pukekohe from the circuit... about 1.2km from the track... they have BP ultimate.... I'll be bringing my car out with about 15L in the tank and a jerrycan with about another 20L.... works well... you can keep your tank low all day to keep the weight down (not TOO low though, don't want fuel surge)... should be fun... you coming out Murdock?

In case you do... I'm the guy with the silver Elise (has small PistonHeads stickers on the front and rear windows)
I know Kiwikid (Mark) will be there in his Black Elise S1 Sport 160 *drool* and also Roger A will be there in his blue Fraser 7.... just come up to any of us and introduce yourself, we'd be only too happy to meet you.... hopefully the weather holds off... it's meant to be better than today so it shouldn't be too bad

Have a great day guys, hopefully you get some good laps in at the end of it. Last yr they put a chicaine down the back straight, which was fun at speed, but naf for the lap times. Dunno what they will do this yr as the previous yr before last was different again. As George mentioned theres petrol stations within 5mins drive to choose from back in the township. Theres no petrol to purchase at the track. So either top up in the lunch break or bring a few cans of your favourite chemical formulation

See you guys in a couple of weeks, off to drink cocktails in the sun Leave tom.
