6 August Lotus Sprints anyone?

Wow sounds like you've had a good chance to really get into your car. The wheels look good. As I mentioned, those boost levels on the SE are factory standard, so there will be no reliability issues. 9.5 lbs was the boost for the carby cars and 60% more boost for the SE, and later S4 engines. As the ECM runs everything, problems from pre-ignition with high boosts are sorted by the knock sensor. I could change the chip for more boost etc, but its good enough as it is It was a faulty thermostat that was limiting its boost, due to the 'open loop, warm-up' mode. Yes, the car was Deans one. And yes, it is still cleaned with a toothbrush and stored under covers There will be a repaint of the front and rear lower air dams coming up though, to get rid of a few stone chips. Havent really had too much time to be doing stuff on it as yet - usual story too many projects on the go!
Actually in Auckland today for work stuff, but bringing the Ferrari for a drive - it hasnt been out for 2 months So the Lotus will be looking forward to a good run on Saturday.
See you there.

Oh yeah our cars are different kettles of fish alright, interior, exterior - everything!. Wish I had the self diagnosing capabilites yours have. But I love the sound of the carbies much better. OK but back to the turbo I know yours can push truck loads more than mine due to the water cooling and all but mmm I really did think that we should be maxing the same oh well thats cool learn something new everyday
If you have any problems with the newish SS exhaust on it you can blame my man he made it from scratch. They spent flipping ages making sit and sound right.
I dont suppose your bought the Mondial from a guy Roger located out Ramarama - South Auckland? He let Simon and I take it for a drive before he sold it. It was also a nice example. See ya.

Ahh so thats who made the exaust? Its going fine thanks, hasnt fallen off
Nope, My Mondial was found under sheets, on blocks, no wheels etc. Was kinda 'put away for storage' but as usual when you dont use things they bugger up. So I spent a lot of time on the car and engine getting it running again. Even now though, its still got electrical problems, showing up again today, damn radiator fan didnt turn on and engine got to 250 degrees in Auckland traffic - sheesh, good thing a break emerged so I could get some decent air flow happening. Horray for high-pressure cooling systems, and no points for Italaian Automotive Electricians

Hehe Kylie...does Simon do Elise exhaust systems too?
I've been looking at the new Larini systems and they look and sound VERY tasty.... I'm thinking one of them and a new Hurricane induction system at the end of my bed on christmas morning would be brilliant.... help fix the one weak area of the Elise.... the sound... or lack thereof.

What are the hours that the day is running? And what sort of times were you looking at specifically George? Just wondering if I could fit in a day of bashing round the pits with a camera...
I'm all signed up and ready to go
Just sorting out gas and stuffs now... get in touch man, I'll have a spare seat, so long as you can squeeze in alongside my spare petrol can. Would love for someone to come along and take some piccies
Ok, here's a link to some of the pictures I took out at Pukekohe this morning. Esprit has some more action ones and some drive-by and startline launch video footage on his camera that hopefully he can get posted up. Highlight of the day was a Lamborghini Gaillado running 1:10's on the driver's first track outing. It sounds like insanity on wheels, its divine. I'm sure you will all recognise most of the cars, there were some stunners out there today and seeing/hearing them run was a great experience.

Perfect day huge fun - big thanks to all that put the show togther - nice job.
I'd be happy to pitch in a few $$$ to get those who organised a bottle of something ? anyone else want to join this little collection ??
As for pictures/movies of the day - lets see them - please !!! never got a chance to take the camera out all day.
Time for a few rums and bed, then dream of all the next mods - sticky tyres, shift light, better brakes $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ maybe a Lambo would work out cheaper ?

Just checking out those pics now... very quick post as I had to dash... GREAT day, great people, great cars and FANTASTIC organisation... day went so well... I'd be more than happy to chip in a few quid to the organisers, was well worth it
Hey guys great day, great driving by all. Felt odd being a spectator for the day and not very pleased about it, but will get my act together for next time hopefully - by then will have sorted whats happening with my car etc... Got landed with Tony's big camera to take pics pics for him, so hopefully they all turned out ..?
I think the only blue was in the timing i.e. many peoples times were cocked up and no times recorded before lunch, I have to admit with no timing computer onboard I would have been a tad peed off. Otherwise was really great. Tony Ingrams V8 suffered a cone imprint on the side from a huge off and a few mechanical things went wrong with other cars, otherwise I think most people were able to drive their cars home again from what I hear.
Will sort this DVD night round home when were back from holiday.

Been kinda busy last night and today so will post up my pics during the week... got some great shots of the Esprits and the Gallardo and a few of the Elises.
Had a GREAT day myself... learned a lot about the track, the car and my driving.... thanks a million Dean for the tips on the track familiarisation run and thanks heaps Mark for the great challenge you presented me on the last couple of runs... was certainly pushing very hard to keep pace with your S160!
Bummed to hear about Tony having an off and clouting a cone... hope not too much damage was done! I only noticed he'd stopped running after he'd gone... could have been worse, he coulda clouted the wall... Only carnage we had was the 7 that was running in our group lost a headlight on the warmup lap (just fell out and smashed).
In any case, a great time was had by most that I spoke to, and being the only Lotus that stumped up for the final race of the day it was FANTASTIC to try to keep up with that Redline Sprint/ beattie clubman...... I didn't stand a chance! Having said that, I was able to easily fend off the all-comers behind me
Will post again when my pics are up... that photographer's site that Dean posted up had some good pics, although not many of me (guess I was too slow eh?). Dean, just get in touch if you have any bright ideas about what we can do to thank the organisers.
