I would have though that 'tags' will take too long to register on system - surely if it is being covered by same system using cameras as London congestion charge why would you need Dart tag?

. Looks like I need at least one new tag. I have three tags at the moment, two are the original large ones and one of those packed up last month. So I've been sharing one between 2 cars thinking od only need to do that until the end of the month. I don't understand why we still need tags?
I thought you still only needed 1 tag per account, but must leave it in one vehicle.

If not I'd better get on the blower and get another 5 tags ordered.

Ruddy confusing all this.

Yeah, it certainly is. It says you need a tag but can no longer share them amongst vehicles. I can't understand why we still need them. Can't see them registering anyway, mine are so bad I'm there waving them about when stationary let alone when moving. There's a couple of booths I won't goto now because its so hard to get the tags to register. Saying that, our French Sanef tag works at 30kph in France.

I've fired them off an email asking for a replacement tag. Be interesting to see what they come back with. I predict chaos next Monday....

Also received my welcome pack this morning, I've registered our three cars for the system but have only one tag. Reading through the info. it states that you should keep your tag in just one car. It says the tag should be displayed (same as before) as this will HELP them identify your car. It does however state that they use APNR for identification. I took this to mean they want you to continue to use the tag as it makes life easy for them but the other cars on your account will just be identified by APNR. Look forward to a definitive answer smile

I wonder whether they are asking for Dart Tags to remain in the vehicle as they have no confidence in the ANPR cameras working correctly. At least if you have a Tag then they can debit your account (which is the most important issus as far as they are concerned).

I'm still not convinced that Dart Charge will make a huge amount of difference to the queues. Ok it will (should) be quicker once you get to the tolls but look at the chaos that we experienced yesterday and this morning. This had nothing to do with the tolls.

Let's hope I'm proved wrong.

Received my welcome pack this morning. Balance is shown as 0.00 despite them having an Auto top up plus a DD.
Not sure when they deduct the £10?

My understanding is that your current Dart Tag account funds will port over when Dart Charge becomes active. Lets see...

Had a tag for over 8 years, no email received and the phone lines are banged out busy.

I called the 0300 number last week to be told an email would be sent same day but clearly this hasnt happened.

Oh the joys.

How fast do you need to go to get 'missed' by the ANPR cameras ?

Well it gets better. Here's the reply to my email ref replacing my faulty tag.

So they're going to be using Anpr but want us to still use tags but can't send out replacements. You couldn't make this up!

Thank you for your email.

As far as we are aware Dart Charge will require you to use the tag if you have one. We are now unable to replace any faulty tags. If you are unable to use the tag please return it to Dart Charge Customer Services, PO Box 842, Leeds LS1 9QF.

When returning tags please ensure that you obtain proof of posting, and retain this until you are sure they have received the parcel.

Kind Regards

Bet that's because, if the ANPR system plays up, anyone with a TAG will still get charged and everyone else will get away with it until it's fixed.

I won't be using my dart tag after 30.11, I've had confirmation that my account has been transferred over, I've kept all e-mails for proof.

Luckily I don't use the crossing that often, I'm going to feel sorry for those of you that do on a daily basis, it's going to be chaos on the first few days !!!

Had the same thoughts as you TB. Bet if you retain a tag in the vehicle, on the day the APNR fails they can still charge while the rest get a free run.
Purposely used it yesterday, to avoid the crazy chaos thats gonna happen after Sunday frown

I've just been into my old Dart-tag account and it's still showing my balance of £5 on that account, I wonder if they will actually send the money over to the new company or whether I'll have to claim it back from them.

Well, the last sentence is directly at odds with what I was told by the drone at Dart Charge after I finally got through after 35 minutes listening to recorded messages telling me how busy they were. I was given a categorical assurance that the account will be deducted by using ANPR. I was a tad sceptical about this but he confirmed it twice. Acting on that advice I've binned the tag, so it will be interesting to see what happens this coming week.

I never got an e-mail either and when I queried it he couldn't provide any satisfactory explanation. So then I asked about notification by post and he said the reason I didn't have that was due to a 'backlog' in sending them out! Terrific, with just 3 days to go before the system went live. Frankly I don't think he had a censored clue whether a notification had been sent to me by ANY method including carrier pigeon. After a further session of toing-and-froing while he tried (and failed) to locate my Dart Tag account I finally managed to get him to do so and migrate it over the phone.

However when I went to log in just now I got this: HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable. Tried again as I'm posting this and now it comes up: HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found. Complete and utter censored shambles.

I had to go collect me Mum from Suffolk today.

So, I set up an account yesterday, registered my cars and funded it £10.

Travelled up and back, no problem. Except when I checked my account when I got home, the balance is unchanged and no crossings are shown in the history.

Also, the website falls over when you try and send a question to their admin.

So, it was well tested.
