The Firecracker on Sunday 4th November 2018 will be the last meeting at the Arena Essex.

All tickets have sold out and they are being touted for silly money.
It's going to be a huge meeting, 230 cars booked in and 90 on the reserve list.

I've got my tickets (and access to the Tavern) - anyone else going to be there?

I got there about 11, parked over at Lakeside and strolled across. I watched the final and left before the DD. I have only ever gone to the Firecracker meetings and compared to the last few it was a belter. But reading the thread on Oval Chat you'd have thought it was only average... I saw some great hits, although there did seem a lot of cars avoiding getting involved in trains and follow ins. Despite the huge number of people there, I always had a pretty good view. Boxer Jack antic's, whilst entertaining, would normally merit a ban of some kind, surely?

I have to say some of the sentimentality got a bit much but that's a sign of the time. The generic phrase "(insert sport here) community is one big family" was wheeled out a few times. Judging by some of the antics in the pits, I would disagree.

Sad to see it go. But I think it's a sign of the times and more banger circuits and, in fact, motor racing circuits will close down in the next few years.

Some videos already posted up on YouTube give a good indication of the meeting.
