A12 speed cameras

In the roadworks between the Shenfield and Chelmsford turn offs there's rather a lot of them now. And they look rather permanent. Anyone know if the whole A12 is going to be cursed with them every mile or so?

Just for the road works I believe. 40mph Road does need re-surfacing there. My Cerb tramlines badly on this stretch!
Adds 20 mins to my journey

Only thing is they are defo permanent cameras. Concreted into the ground with barriers around them to stop you bumping into them, the works. I'm betting when all the road works are gone that stretch turns into a permanent speed cam zone. Arse.

Go through there every morning and have to say that they do look pretty permanent. Bugger and indeed balls.

The cameras on the A414 up to the Army and Navy look permanent too but I think it is because they can't fit the ones on trailers on to the central reservation and side verge.

I hope your right, As I said exactly the same thing about them looking permanent.

I lost count of the number of scameras on the A12 i guess they plan to fund the road improvements through revenue generated and not our road fund licensce feckers!!When i went down there Sunday (6.11.05) one on the colchester bound carriageway was covered with an out of commission/not working hood and it was still going off when cars went by at over 40MPH how sensative !!! I sincerely hope they go after work is completed for all our sakes.

Road works are there until next March so fixing them properly makes sense as those on trailers etc. would probably get stolen / knocked over / twisted round.

Also next time when you go past the scameras look on the other side of the road as each scamera has its own cctv camera on a tall pole looking back at it to catch any aggrieved motorist who decides to come along in the dead of night & angle grind the fecker down.

Im pretty sure the cameras arent permanent when the resurfaced the strech between Ingatestone and Brentwood a few years back they had loads then and they took them away after but just left the lines on the road. So I recon they will be removed once the work is done.

All the works that have been done round my way, near Colchester, have had concreted-in scameras, so the pratnership can increase the bill for installation and rake in some extra jubbly from the works budget - about ten metres-worth of three-lane blacktop to be precise. But, of course, they ain't there to make money. Ho, no.

The whole A12 should be made motorway to be faster, not camera'ed to make it slower.
