(Firstly I would like to offer my deepest sympathies for the families and friends effected by the fatal accident on the M20 this morning.)

I have never seen traffic like this morning! M20 backed up to jct.7 / the M2 solid from the A2/M25 jct. all the way to the gillingham jct. on the M2 (got to be 20 odd miles)

Blue bell hill was a standstill.

I left my house in rochester to drive to maidstone at 7.30, i did not get to work until 11.30! 4 hours! for a usual 20 min drive.

Was anyone else caught up in this?

My opinion is the M20 was closed for far to long, I know the accident was fatal but how can it justify being closed for nearly 12 hours...

Nearly two years ago now i lost my brother in a motorbike accident on the A2 at the bluewater jct. This involved 3 cars and his bike, the road was closed for only 3 hours.....

Please correct me if i am wrong but what could possibly take 12 hours to retreive from the scene of an accident? Could the disruption caused to thousands of motorists been avoided this morning?

Again I do not wish to upset anyone affected by this terrible accident. and loosing a loved one in such a way beyond words...

I too thought that the time taken to clear the accident was excessive - yet nothing on the news last night about the chaos..

Don't know what it is about Kent Police and their accident clear up.. Perhaps their accident photographer only works during the day..

There should be an inquiry into why it took so long - if there's an accident - take tons of photographs, get the trucks in and clear the road.

Maidstone was a car park - SWMBO decided to walk the four miles to work through town and was there long before I could even get out of the estate.

I cant see why we dont have a policy like the U.S has, The road is to be re-opened 45 mins after an accident (i might be worng but i think thats the case)

it must have cost millions in man hours because of people being late to work.

The Chief Constable of Kent is on BBC Radio Kent this morning to give a reason... i wont have a chance to listen to it though unfortunatly... would be intresting to hear what he has to say.

The police now have to investigate all accidents as though they are crimes. Its not about just clearing it up anymore. As a result if anything looks even slightly wrong. i.e the car seems to have ploughed on without any opposite lock or braking effort then they have to investigate there and then.
Stupid change for change sake by Labour.
