Mobile cameras on the A3 southbound just past the services near Burpham. Result: one almighty crash about 10 metres after the cameras and tailbacks of about a mile. Another example of misplaced police efforts.

It really doesn't supprise me these cameras have possibly caused an accident.
I guess they are deliberately placed on the Ripley overpass in the afternoons as the sun is in your eyes as you approach and obscures the cameras.
Due to drivers seeing the cameras late they stamp on the brake pedal even if not speeding. Let's face it we all do it, brake first then look at the speedo.

To my knowledge (lived in Guildford 30+ years) this is not an accident blackspot. Are they trying to make it one??

Yep - Think this is ANPR.

They seem to do a fair bit of it round 'ere!

What you do have to keep an eye out for though, is plod hanging around at the BP stations and around the M25 in both directions, as well as coppers on bikes near Burpham interchange.

On the whole though, I like the A3.
