I was in the Back of a cab and managed to have a proper gawp at what looks like a arena or stadium built out of shipping containers next to the M3, about 1-2 miles from M25.

Just curious as to what it's for..

It's for filming- they cover it in green screen material and add in special fx later. Not sure what film at the mo tho, Google will prob show you.

You can drive in (sometimes) round the back entrance off the roundabout (the one which has a swing gate). It's the roundabout before you hit the 'curved' straight runnign past the studio/old Qinietiq entrance.

I drove past there last Friday Night / Saturday morning, and thought I saw filming floodlights as I drove past.

I was there a few weeks ago using the test track and we could see a full size galleon, don't know what was being filmed though. We have tried to use the track recently but unable to due to filming. Seen many huge container structures there before.

A lot of the containers have been removed now and you can clearly see the full size ship from the M3. A bit of a surreal sight whilst sat in the normal morning traffic jam.

They must have been filming night scenes recently as the place was lit up like a christmas tree with, helpfully, a huge spot light that seemed to shine up the m3 at oncoming traffic - caused the traffic pattern to change such that there was a queue at that point when there isn't one usually.
