No hgv parking at services is because they burnt down, not due to the works.
Thanks for your insight, but didn't I refer to that when I said: -

"Down the A3 Southbound - overhead gantries around Cobham told me at about 20.20 that Fleet services weren't open for HGVs - as they have done for weeks FFS used to mention M3 closures, but seemingly no longer!"

Maybe time for a Waltz Mr Astaire, unless you can do a Foxtrot (Oscar)?! laugh

Why are people so angry about people working on our roads?

Do you actually like the roads to be in poor condition?

Some of the posters on this thread do seem to have some anger problems.

You think this is acceptable ?? could wait till diversion route is no longer required.

Just to add this work om A30 is nothing to do with road improvement Eric. It's work on a re-development
so could have been re-scheduled after M3 completed or work only during Mon-Fri 9:30 - 16:00
thus avoiding the need for 24hr SALT

Completely missing the point.
Not emergency work or R & M and carried out under standard Street Works notice submitted to loical highways (Surrey CC)
Authorised by someone who has no concept of major work already in place within the area
and on the official diversion route.

Special treat last night - by about 21.30ish the M3 was closed from J2 to J4a (where the Southbound HGV's can't park apparently)!!

I know it needs gazillions spent on it to make it a real basket-case f*ck-up, but should it really take 3 years to make it the "Road to Nowhere"? (as in it is closed). mad

Total nightmare last night. It added a whole ten minutes on to my journey. I was totally incensed.

Well that's 10 minutes less time wking then, at least your arm will get a rest.

Oh yes nice tail backs on the A30 at Egham as many drivers avoid M3 frown

Not enough resources and staff on the ground getting work done, full advantage should be taken of closures with task lighting brought in.
Full 247 365 working would have seen this mess completed well before the original target date.
Local roads adjacent to works depots getting damaged with all the extra heavy equipment are getting a good pounding like a cheap hooker.
These night closures are required but no full advantage being taken to complete many of the other outstanding tasks.
How many times do you drive along there and see small pockets of activity with a hand full doing any work.
The main contractors must be raking in the £££

Has anyone got a link to a definitive list of dates and times the M3 is going to be shut?

I've had a quick google and all I can find is either live traffic maps or generic lists of roadworks saying they are working on the M3 until July.

I put a call into the HA last week and was told to expect a call back within 15 days.
Basically, they don't know.
I actually called to HA a couple of weeks back as I hoping to use the M3 on a journey home from Twickenham to Sandhurst ( a breeze when the M3 is open, a nightmare with I am not sure how many roundabouts and red lights when it's not) and was told at 6.30pm, they did not know if the M3 was closing 90 minutes later or not.
What annoys me is the fact the works was extended to do "road resurfacing" by a year "for our benefit" so there would no further road resurfacing would be needed for 5 years.
Really... so how do you explain the half built infrastructure by the side of the road then?

Went to a friends for dinner Friday night, left Twickenham to come home at 10pm, knew the M3 would be closed, so decided to take the M4 as I really could not be bothered with the stop start and roundabouts and traffic lights on the A30. Thought I could nip off at J10, nip through Bracknell to Sandhurst, a bit longer, but at least I would still be moving.
But no...The HA had better ideas... decided to shut Junction 10.
First I knew of it was when I passed Maidenhead, so no option to get off earlier.
Carried on into a lovely jam (one lane open as they were still deploying roadworks, also planning my journey.
Got to Junction 10, and it was open, despite the signs otherwise.
These guys could not run an f'*** bath!
