I got onto the A3 heading for the M25 last Friday (21st), and was told the M3 was closed!

Did the same on Wednesday 26th, and was told the M3 was closed!

Will review it if it is ever open (so probably not in my lifetime)! laugh

No wonder the A30 is full of potholes!

Friday night, visiting friends near Heathrow, heading home in the early hours.
Did not fancy the A30, M3 was, as per the norm, closed.
Had it have been, journey would have been a little under 19 miles.
Decided to use the M4. Got to the M4. Closed. No warning until you arrived at the junction.
Called the Highways Agency to see if they could justify closing the M3 AND the M4, they apologised, suggested I turn around at Junction 16, at which point I told them that this was not possible, at was the M40, I can go north or south.
Decided to go North on the M40.
19 miles turned into 42.
Nice.

No idea what you were smoking.
I left Twickenham after the rugby at about 23:10hrs M3 down to one lane at JN2 /M25 with a short queue
Onto A30 off at Egham and through the back roads to Frimley no problem.
What possessed you go on the M40 ???

Coming off at J13 - A30 its an easy run and you can avoid rest of A30 by coming off into Egham and using back roads or head into Poyle at Jn14 then head out through Datchet and Old Windsor back roads

I use these all the time after a late shift at LHR or if M25 is screwed.
Was out for a dinner in Harlington last night (The Pheasant - and recommend that for big boys portions)
Back though back roads afterwards, much more fun in the 335 than boring motorways.

They are rushing to get it all finished, as it's supposed to be all open on June 30th!

Then the fun begins, 8 cameras along the new stretch, but not all live, you just won't know which ones! They won't even tell us evil

There is more than 2 months work left so they need to get a wiggle on.
What's the betting the contractor is aiming to finish ahead of time and get a bonus !!!!

Should have been done on a Lane Rental basis and Woodlands bridge right near me
will not be finished by 30th June

Balfour Beatty also have one of the worst site safety records
7 workers have lost their lives on BB Contracts in the last few years - disgusting statistic...
which includes one on the M3 site.

Sad, but I would happily have killed another BB Contractor tonight!

Came Southbound on the A3 - no signs, even to warn of the lack of HGV parking Southbound at Fleet Services!

Exited the A3 at J10 on the M25 then headed for the M3, but after J10 on M25 someone finally decided to tell everyone that the M3 slip-road was shut - why not be honest and tell people on the A3 that the poxy M3 was shut - AGAIN! Because it was!

There are overhead signs on the A3, so why not use them?! - then I could have stayed on the A3 to Guildford, got on the A31 and used the A331.

We've already developed rocket science - surely road signage isn't that difficult?

Rocket scientist vs someone who digs holes for a living.

It's probably fair to assume that the M3 is shut every night for the foreseeable future. I never use the M3 now, just stick to the A3 and A31. It's closed all weekend whilst they finish woodlands road bridge

So, allegedly. this crock of st will be finished in a fortnight.
I really do hope so.
Coming home around midnight, was on the M25, about to get off onto to the A30. when I saw the signs, "M3 Closed, Junction 3-4", could it be? No, surely not, the M3 is actually available to partially use??
So, I stayed on, with the intention of getting on at 2 (M25) and off at 3 (Lightwater)
However, what they failed to mention, and I had no way of knowing before I got there. was the southbound slip was closed. so, upon leaving the M25, you had to go North to Sunbury, come off, and then go South again.
I called the HA to find to tell them, and they promised to change the signs immediately.
Imbeciles.

The way it is going 2 years would be a bonus - total F*ckup. Sort of like the current PM's tenure of that job. laugh

Same for me on Friday night at 8.30 ish!

F*cking waste of time, but if the poxy signs had said M3 closed J2 to the South Coast forever after 9 pm so the workers can have a tea-break/wk/whatever I would have stayed on the A3, but they didn't!

So I didn't stay on the A3 to get onto the A31 then A331, although when the gantries say M3 closed from J3 to J4a you sort of hope you my get from J2 to J3, but apparently not without going to Sunbury at J1...!

No more, I'm going to treat the M3 as the motorway that doesn't exist because it is mostly closed anyway!

Total waste of time - I'd rather use a good A-road, or is that the strategy?

M3 "ste Motorway" is unlikely to be finished In my lifetime - pointless, useless cheapskate "solution" to the lack of decent roads in the south east, where most of the UK population lives! I have used better dual carriageways (but I cannot say where, or they will get closed down)! biglaugh

Is there an effective complaints procedure, rather than bh on here should we not be bhing to someone who might do something.

Who has ultimate responsibility for this and let's start with them.

Please no Tory Labour nonsense.
