"Emergency Road Marking" smile

Location : The M3 westbound between junctions J2 and J3 . Lane Closures : Lane one will be closed. Reason : Emergency road marking works are planned. Status : Pending. Schedule : Expect disruption everyday between 20:00 and 05:30 from 14 October 2017 to 16 October 2017. Lanes Closed : All lanes will be closed.
How can it be an emergency to remove the temporary cats eyes from the previous road works and paint the lines? 'Emergency' stinks of code for unfinished work that was in scope of the project 'completed' five months ago.

More comedy closures last night.
J2 - J4 closed as per normal now.
But then after getting back on at 4 the exit at 4a was closed (needless to say without any advanced warning)) so anyone thinking the last bit of their journey to, say, Fleet would go to plan would've suddenly found themselves plodding all the way to J5 to turn back instead of sticking with the A30 from Camberley.
Good work Balfour Beatty.

I saw a sign joining at 4a southbound today saying there were closures for five nights.

Yes but if you were coming from London you would've already have been diverted off the M3, rejoining at 4 and then stuck on it until J5.

Official word from HA, closed tonight, but not sure about tomorrow night.
Asked them to explain how can you can plan " emergency road markings", and they agreed it was stupid.

Confession.

I used M3 north onto M25 south last Sunday for the first time since the changes and got in the wrong lane.
I sorted myself out without causing a crash.....getmecoat

I came home on Wednesday night on the M25 clockwise assuming the slip-road onto the M3 Southbound would be shut.

I usually use the A3, A31, A331 but decided to get off the M25 at J12 and go around the back of Chertsey towards Virginia Water and Windlesham then back onto the M3 at J3. Those back roads are great fun when they are quiet! laugh (No cameras either)!

Cris-a-tunity possibly? I was amazed to see the 50 restriction is still in place from M25-> M3 southbound - WHY?! Didn't this finish in June?

More fun tonight.
Got on the M25 at T4 Cargo.
"M3 closed, 4-5a" said the sign.
excellent I thought and sailed past my "escape route of the A30.
Just beyond the sign was another sign.
"M3 closed Junction 2-3, M3 closed Junction 4-5a. M3 West bound exit closed".
I didn't fancy the endless roundabouts and traffic lights, so I decided on the M4 instead, or I would have done, had it been open

I was under the impression that the long term 50 restriction at the southbound M25 / M3 interchange is going to remain in place, even once the works are completed, as a "safety measure". Of course the joy there is that the two lanes on the M3 will still merge into a single lane at the flyover and, as always, continue to become a nice pinch point due to no-one understanding how to merge and / or speeding through at 70+, then anchoring on at the last minute to avoid rear ending slower moving traffic / speed camera, etc.

In taxi to LHR mid afternoon yesterday. We were in lane 1 at 60-70mph on the straight to J2. All of a sudden lots of brake lights, frantic lane changing, near stationary in lane 1 and 2 with 3 and 4 still at full speed. Lorry bearing down on our back window. Then we see a car stopped in lane 1. No lane closure or any other warning signs! We were effectively running at full motorway speed in the hard shoulder with no visibility of trouble ahead. To make it worse occupants of stranded car had doors open, were milling around and not over behind the armco. Only a matter of time......
