I'm sure there's also many more breakdowns in the holidays as all the cars used only for local runs are put to the test on long motorway journeys. Of course, breakdowns and smart motrways are not IN ANY WAY compatible.
There, fixed that for you!

Out of curiosity I was checking last week - the new refuges from J4 to J2 are about 1.5 miles apart! That is a long way with a flat tyre or no coolant! eek

Sixty to ninety second at normal speeds on a free flowing motorway.......which of course the M3 is, every hour of every day, obviously.

Well of course - apart from when it isn't! biglaugh

Mind you it has improved no end in the last few months to be fair.

But why do they still have a 50 limit with average cameras on the first mile or so when you join it at J2 from the M25 anti-clockwise? furious

It is to allow lorries (and Honda Jazzs) to merge from the right.

Last week saw a consultation paper for moving the start and end positions slightly. Can't remember why though.

Car rolled between J2 and J3 southbound not long after the M25, so it's very slow.

Top effort...

Perhaps it had a rear ¼ nudged by another car or a truck? That's the only way I could see it happening.

A lot of them are obviously retired...

I was almost wiped off the M25 on Sunday by some dozy git who decided to move into lane 3 just as I was overtaking rolleyes

Without doubt, more idiots than ever out there!

How do you know it was the other driver who was in the wrong.

People are so good at identifying other drivers' faults.

Should I find that 'not sure if serious' meme or didn't I explain what happened well enough? confused

Oi - I'm retired! redcard

I nearly got wiped out a few times on the M3 from J2 to J4 then M25 to A3 to Tolworth yesterday - the problem as I see it isn't so much retired as retarded! mad And that seems to apply to any age group! furious

I treat every other road user as a fking idiot and dont trust any of them .
Had a nugget driver in a Renault with three passengers turn sharp from lane 2 across my path to exit a slip road so close from the truck cab i could see in the headlights a terrified passengers face looking up as 30 tons was right there at 90 degrees to the car
How that car never got smashed up I never know.
My work mate was in shock as passenger saw it all too, I was just cussing the dimwit death wish driver.
After a few miles he said to me "you never even lifted off or hit the brake " why would I do that and risk a skid and maybe take out passing traffic. better to give that car a dig than swerve and hit another while he drives off like nothing happened.

That wasn't a slight on the retired, just a reason why some of the - ahem - elderly drivers we have to steer around aren't at work.

I'm also finding a lot more young female drivers driving really badly these days.

I'm not picking out any one demographic. Bad drivers come from all of them!

Looking again at the image, could the HGV have had something to do with it?

News report said 'lorry drivers stopped to help' - didn't say they were involved, but of course they could well have been.
