Developers buy site
can't get planning
open it as a studio in meantime to get a return on investment
get planning for some houses
when planning for rest of site comes through, studio will close
I was talking to one of the sales people the other day - it appears the studio is so successful that they're looking at re-developing the old buildings into proper sound stages instead of building offices.can't get planning

The housing plan for the test track is still in place.
Well the cranes have come down and the mystery building appears to be complete.
Pretty sure it's film related. It looks a little odd to be anything else, with the dome and what looks like some kind of lighthouse feature, plus it seems to have weathered incredibly quickly.....artificially quickly?

is it new or was it always there and the trees have cleared a bit?
It's a new-build on a steel framework structure that went up really fast with seemingly very little interior structure (although I appreciate that could be added later).
It's been there a while now with no obvious further activity, although a load more cranes have sprung up to the South.
It's either a development of some sort and is there to stay or it's part of a very big, very lengthy production.
Looking at things like Band of Brothers as an example, building an adaptable outdoor set that stands for anything up to a year isn't out of the question.
