I figured my "local" forum would be the place to say hi, not least cos I noticed a couple of you that live scarily nearby.

I'm Dave, I'm 20, I'm in the process of being bankrupted by my 1999 Focus 1.8 - being a student and running a car are mutually exclusive activities it seems.

First heard of PH when I stumbled across the Virginia Water meet last September, met a couple of the 'Vette guys, but only just got around to joining.

I'd say to look out for me around Windlesham/Sunningdale/V Water area, but how unique is a green Focus?

Cheers.

Dave,

You can't be too far away from me (Sunningdale).

Welcome.

Hi there focusonme newbie!
It's usually a bit quiet on this particular forum. If you want to know when big meets are happening then get to the events/meeting/travel section that caters for the entire country but local ish events do appear on there from time to time. A good one you'll be interested in is the POTB at the begining of September. (cant make it myself as on honeymoon then) but l;ast year it was fantastic. Started at Bassingstoke and then great roads to Hayling Island and park on the beach. V.W. runs and meets tend to happen out of season. Summer time makes the carpark too jammed. Anyway, i'm often round your area as i live down the road in Bracknell. So hope I to see you around.
All the best and welcome, D4V KC

Ah 1999 Focus 1.8. Excellent car! Mind you mine was starting to complain about being thrashed so I chopped it in on the MX5!

Watch out for speedo failure and rough running. Caused by sensor failure in the gearbox but didn't show up in the ECU error codes!

Actually, funny you should mention the speedo - ran past the speed check on the A322 the other night, and the numbers didn't match - was about 7mph over. A warning sign, perhaps?

I went through three of these last night, 2 of them on the A322.

Not sure what was up with them. They were completely wrong.
I moved off from some traffic lights and could have only have been doing twenty, when the first sign flashed up I was doing 43!

For the next one I was following the speed of the car infront. He braked and it flashed 35. Then as I came through it (having slowed along with the other driver) it flashed 37! I was definately under 30!

Think it was random number night last night!

Yeah right... Knowing you and your car...
